Ohh okay I gotcha now. I’ll consider tweaking it, but I do really like the looks of the choil being close to 50/50 with the handle, as well as some more room for jimping to ensure the choil and thumbramp is extra not slip durring use.standy99 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 3:05 pmIn the picture above extend the handle a bit where your first finger is to go a bit closer to the blade.Tristan_david2001 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 12:32 am19612DDC-6381-4E85-B574-C7CBC8B53903.jpg5FFF3B12-7686-4A21-B501-42E656DDCCC4.jpg
I just cut out the design to get a somewhat feel for how it fits the hand, I wear a men’s glove size xl for reference. I’d say judging by the how the outline feels to hold it would fit my hand very very well.
Couldn’t do this that well on my iPad, but like here…..
It will be more comfortable in the hand with a bigger handle.

Hey standy, I just wanted to show you the change I made. I didn’t make it quite as high as in the pic you edited, probably now like 70% of the fore finger groove is handle, but I think this is a good compromise and would be an improvement in the ergos as you suggested. Thank you for pointing that out!standy99 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 3:05 pmIn the picture above extend the handle a bit where your first finger is to go a bit closer to the blade.Tristan_david2001 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 12:32 am19612DDC-6381-4E85-B574-C7CBC8B53903.jpg5FFF3B12-7686-4A21-B501-42E656DDCCC4.jpg

Just a fun comparison pic with a vintage kershaw bird & trout fixed blade.

Cool, couldn’t draw that good a line on the iPad so just a bit is better. If you taper the handle towards the blade it will make it easy for finer detail work.Tristan_david2001 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 7:46 pmHey standy, I just wanted to show you the change I made. If you make your handle longer before fitting it’s easy to take a bit off before you fit.
(Trust me I have made a handle too short before and had to make another )

Tristan that’s a nice design. Really catches the eye but it looks like it would be quite functional. Good job!

You’d be less flattered if you knew how little I know about the knife game; only 5 years into this hobby lol.Tristan_david2001 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 5:52 pmThank you Forehammer! I’m very flattered by that. Still continuing to fine tune the design and get it just right
I will say I’m rather picky about blade shape in fixed blades, and yours is something I would buy instantly. Especially in a steel like CruWear. That belly looks like it would a **** of a skinning knife.

That’s about as long as I’ve been into the knife hobby myself. And I have about a year of experience in designing my own knives, mostly just for fun, but this design one would definitely be one of the few I’ve done I’d really like to make or potentially work with someone to bring it to life.Foehammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 6:13 pmYou’d be less flattered if you knew how little I know about the knife game; only 5 years into this hobby lol.Tristan_david2001 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 5:52 pmThank you Forehammer!
