IAN: Stay safe my fellow Floridians

#1

Post by JRinFL »

Our forum friend Buddafucco and some others are going to be at the center of this storm. Hope and pray everyone will be safe this week.

We are further inland, but on the eastern side of the storm, so tornadoes will be our biggest threat.

Experienced a hurricane in Miami in 1950, it was awful.

Could not believe the Devi Station, when it was over everyone help neighbors with clean up.

Ian got me at least a day and a half off of work. For that, I thank him!
But he's definitely messing with my Spydie Hunting schedule!

I have friend who's going to be right in the middle of it. He has a very nice gun collection that he's very concerned about. He sent his wife and pets out of state while he's stayed behind to try to hold down the fort

Stay safe! Praying.

It's that time of year. Why don't these things bombard the East coast and leave the Gulf States alone?
I Pray Heaven to Bestow The Best of Blessing on THIS HOUSE, and on ALL that shall hereafter Inhabit it. May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under This Roof! (John Adams regarding the White House)

Live pure, speak true, right wrong, follow the King--
Else, wherefore born?" (Tennyson)

Ugh… My parents got hit by a tornado. Pictures of their condo are all over the news. Everybody is safe but they are in a shelter right now. It doesn’t look like they will be going home any time soon. Thank goodness they are in south Florida so they are out of the path of the hurricane.

Blimey… that looks terrible in the news. Take care if you’re in it’s path.

Ian came with the claws out!
The power line to my house got torn down. Three trees down. Half a fence. No cell data. Good times!

Glad you guys are safe Beau!

I still have family in Brandon/Riverview area just east of Tampa. Tried to get them up here when it was tracking there, but it was too late. Looks like they dodged a bullet.

Thanks Jeff!
I'm in Bradenton. The Ft Myers area got it bad! It was pretty wild at my house but I never felt like I was in danger. Just the misery of no power and some damage.

Reminds of the horror of Andrew when I was a kid down there. People wonder why Floridians are always concerned about the weather. Well here you go. Just devastation.

I was in Florida when Elena hit the Gulf side on Longboat Key , it was not a fun experience. This storm is much more devastating. Dan

Ian ending up going south of us so all we have is minor damage and no power or internet. Well, cell internet just came back today, so that’s good. Lots of other’s got hit hard. 😕
