Not a Spyderco, but I couldn't help myself

Post by RustyIron »

It's not like I'm a Spyderco Fanboy. But I like to carry a knife that's easy to open, easy to close, made of top-shelf steel, uses a sensible grind, and is easy to grip and use. Spyderco gives me all that. Those other Brand X knives might try, but none as good as a regular Spyderco. It's not like I NEED any more knives, and certainly not any knives that don't meet all the criteria listed above.

However...

I saw a video of a new knife that was going to be released, and it caught my eye. But I resisted. Weeks went by, the knife was released, and then everyone started complaining about not being able to find one. That reinvigorated my inner-hunter, and I had to track one down. It didn't take long to find one, and that should have been enough. But the seller was super accommodating. I could no longer resist the titanium frame, ironwood inlays, Elmax blade, and tantorificness.

So here's a couple pics and a brief video, that I shot with the knife in one hand, and the phone in the other. Remember, I didn't claim this was a sensible knife. I just have a hard time resisting shiny baubles. Maybe I should seek therapy.

Beauty of a knife. And the sound is amazing. Congratulations.

Y'know, I never paid close attention to it before you mentioned it. As cool as it sounds, it's a little loud, which might be detrimental when trying to be discreet. Don't worry, though. I'm gonna have fun with it regardless.

Is that categorized as a gravity knife?

We try not to categorize here, as it leads to prejudice.

😆

Oh yeah, it's a gravity knife. The only downside is that it won't be of any use when Elon Musk invites you to lunch on his spaceship. You'll be cutting your steak with the Space-X issued spork.

Bummer. Gravity knives are one of the few knives actually banned here.

I’m not sure about Illinois regarding gravity knives . I’ve read they fall into same category as Autos (button ) and OTF . One must have a FOID card to Legally possess these type of knives. I had a chance years ago to buy an authentic WW2 German Paratrooper gravity knife but passed that day . Went home with a six inch S&W 29 . In some ways it was a bad choice the knife was really well built .
