Speaking of rat shot, the Bug A Salt is fun.
https://www.bugasalt.com/products/bug-a-salt-yellow-3-0
I had one of the early versions.
They shoot table salt and are effective against soft insects like flies
but it merely annoyed wasps which was what I really wanted to shoot.

Then I discovered the Bug Blaster adapter for .177 or .22 air rifles.
http://bugblaster.net/ I had an old Crosman .22.
It is as powerful as your air rifle and shoots silica sand or fine shot.
It was fun knocking down wasps.
Most required stepping on to finish them off.
It was not fun if they counterattacked.

Worked clearing an old fence line this morning, showered
and still found this tick as I was combing my thinning hair.

Image

Reminds me of the line in the romantic
Brad Paisley country and western song, Ticks:
"I'd like to check you for ticks."
https://fb.watch/fIBjemyjbQ/

Seek identified it as a Gulf Coast Tick.
Seek identified the Spyderco Bug as a Hard Backed Tick.

Terry is neat!

Terry is lucky to be alive!
I was in a left turn on my bike on a collision course when I first spotted her. I shifted course a little bit and the front wheel missed her by an inch. The rear wheel would be tracking to the inside, so I stood the bike up the best I could. It was all going down so fast that I had no idea if I hit her or not. I slid to a stop and was relieved to see that she was unscathed.

Did you notice the way she "scratched" her abdomen with her rear leg? That's a typical tarantula behavior. Their hairs are like tiny barbed spears. They're an irritant meant to discourage predators and curious mountain bike riders. It's also an indication that she's had enough of me and it's time to leave her alone.

Little fella hitched a ride on my lawn tractor today then posed with the Spyderhawk. Have no idea what it is.
