Sure thing, bud.
I know you said no ladder but truenorthknives has a ladder damascus in the new style.

For any lefties out there- gpknives, knifejoy, and northwest knives has got some nice lefty 31s

Will do. I check my go to 5 sites multiple times a day...even though I really don't want to buy another right now and have nothing particular in mind haha! **** sickness.

Ain’t bought either one cuz they’re the same! I’d REALLY like a raindrop in a lighter wood…. I have a small 31 black micarta ladder damascus and a large 31 black micarta with boomerang.
If I could only keep 2 knives those would be it.

I have a confession. The Zaan is cool but the soft opening still freaks me out. Lol

Mine has a little more thunk to it's lock up for some reason now, after disassembling it twice. Everything else functions and looks correct, but it's noticeably smoother and louder lockup.

I’ve had 2, multiple 21s and a large inkosi… For some reason the inlayed small and large 31s are king for me. I need a new style Mnandi! I stupidly sold my old original box elder years ago.

I really need you all to tell me how bad the Zaan is. Tell me everything that is wrong with it and how I'll regret owning one.

The large 31 is better. Hope this helps

The new style mnandi is really cool with the thumb hole. I just wish the mnandi had better clips. The clip is too stiff (no flex)

I think I'm just in love with the style of the Zaan. Dear Lord I can't do both.

Man, I have spent so much time justifying this I finally got a GB2. Didn't want that heavy of a knife then looked at the Zaan and said "I can make it work." Then came around and looked at my favorite Spyderco blade on the GB2. "It's only 4.4 ounces." Well this GB2 is so thin in pocket I'm loving it. Cuts amazingly. Unfortunately, I love it so much it has had the opposite effect of satiating my Zaan love. I'm in trouble. $450+ kinda trouble.

I still need someone to tell me how bad it is. Please, for my unknowing wife's sake, please.

I’m with SG, the zaan is a sweet blade… but the 31 (with micarta inlays) is king.

The real answer is buy them all and find out for yourself !

Edit* got a queen size bed in the other room you can sleep on for when she finds out you bought them.

I never used the clip unless it was in a shirt pocket like a pen (actually works really well). Otherwise, just drop it in the pocket. Even remove the clip if ya want.

The Mnandi is to elegant to clip to your pocket! Take it off and carry it in the sheath! 😂

For those who prefer the 31 with inlays over the Zaan, is it the ergos, weight, or other that does it for you?

Nevermind, don't answer that.

Shannon, I may need that bed.

I think the ergos are better on the Large 31, I never think about or worry about weight. The Zaan just feels more like "this is a knife" in hand though. It has such a tougher feel, and that blade...that's what does it, it's so unique looking. The cutting edge and blade shape in that area is very similar between the two knives though.

I know it's not something you want to hear, but trying both is ideal! The good thing about CRK's is you can easily get all or most of your money back if you decide to sell one. If you lose $20-30 giving a $500 knife you've been wanting to try for a while, it doesn't hurt so bad haha. (who am I to talk though, I haven't sold any of mine) That's when I panic and start selling off 2-3 other knives to make myself and bank account feel better.

Yeah, the look of that Zaan is stunning. I have plenty of workers that I love the ergos on. I would probably lean towards the Zaan for that blade.
