Well, I vote for "Politician". We've always known...but the last year has really exposed just how useless and worthless they are!

I can't say what I'd like banned because it would erupt into a political session, but we can all think of riots that were caused by them. I'll just say that and no more.

Agreed! What's the deal with "reach out"? Why is everybody "reaching out" as opposed to calling, emailing, talking to, visiting with...? We have so many more precise phrases that don't carry the latent self-aggrandizement. I guess "talking with" someone is gauche, but "reaching out" deserves a Nobel Peace Prize?

But D, every time a Spyderco model gets cancelled, I get triggered! I have to run to my safe space and re-center myself. Only then can I circle around to reaching out to the forum. That's the new normal!

"OK, Boomer."

Jim
I usually tell them that a Boomer is going to throw them out of their bedroom and put them on the street.
What do you guys have against Oklahoma football? What are you going to want to ban next, yellow hammers?
Doh! :winking-tongue

Us Boomers need to stick together no matter where we are from. "OK Boomer" is a slap at the baby boomers but I'll take all the support from Oklahoma I can get.

How many different ways do people contact each other these days? It is far easier to use a generalized "reach out" than it is trying to figure out what form of communication the other people use. I usually use "talk" myself, but it is just as sloppy as "reach out".

My vote would be for any PC words and phrases. Common slang and jargon bothers me far less as trendy ones will likely die out and the survivors will add to the lexicon.

"Noped," as in "I noped it out of there." I know that a lot of young adults use it, but it just sounds dumb.

Unnecessary and improper use of "actual," as used in, "What the actual ****?" Also sounds stupid.

"vast right wing conspiracy"
"deep state"

Some of these may have been banned

Others may be cogent tropes
that should not be banned.

In my experience, 90% of the time someone "reaches out" to me, it's a salesperson, and the not-so-subtle implication is that they nobly, selflessly, and generously "reached out" to me, so I'm obligated to reciprocate and "reach out" to them in return. "Reach out" is used almost exclusively by people asking for favors, in my experience. "Talk" > "Reach Out" if for no other reason than "talking" is literal and is the correct word. The telemarketer is not actually reaching out as he says, he's using a cheap metaphore to try to instill a sense of obligation. It's beyond cheesy.

. . . . . . . . . . :cheese-wedge . . . . . . . . "reach out"

What's your opinion of "literally," especially when it's used to mean: figuratively? As in:

"I literally couldn't even."

I could be wrong, but I think that came out of military radio jargon. The "actual" being the person in command of whatever unit. So in this case it would emphasis the, ah, well you know what.
