What's your opinion of "literally," especially when it's used to mean: figuratively? As in:

"I literally couldn't even."
It figuratively drives me crazy when people misuse the word 'literally'.

"vaxxed"
"unvaxxed"
Yes.

How on earth did we get to using those in place of vaccinated and unvaccinated? It (figuratively) drives me crazy.

While we're at it, I'm sick of the term 'jab' which got imported from some third world country where they don't even speak proper English. ;)

Some of these may have been banned
in previous years but did not take.
Others may be cogent tropes
that should not be banned.

New phrases that may be coined in 2022
and that may be banned:
"black hegemony"
"medical industrial complex"

Very clever! Now what to do about those phrases that don't go away, even after we ban them?

we should banish words like, banned, canceled, boycott, etc. and get back to being willing to hear each other and have the difficult conversations. otherwise we'll never learn anything of value. it's far better to suffer a completely ignorant attack on your position than to retreat into an echo chamber fed by confirmation bias where you never have to think.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Good point, Jon. We need to make a window to reimagine our contingent-forward paradigm shifting, and pivot toward systemised strategic approaches.

from a work standpoint, i'd love to see "sync" and "sync up" die. stop trying to make a meeting to prepare for a meeting to prepare for tasking sound cool. i know what's going on and there's nothing cool about it.

I heard it on the radio this morning driving into work "It's raining cats and dogs out there"

I mean really, how did this ever become a thing, and WHY!? Though some obituaries would be interesting when those St Bernard's started falling!

Yeah, that would align with best practices and would lead to seamless integration with all stakeholders.

I'd like to banish "social distancing", almost nobody is using this term correctly. This is especially true (in France at least) for medias and politics !
Bonus : can be accompanied by "physical distancing", since this is the one people are confusing it with.
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Robin. Finally made an IG : ramo_knives

Some parts of my wife's family refer to the weather condition of rain falling while the sun shines (which I always called 'sun showers') as "The Devil is beating his wife." That's actually roughy analogous to the expression I learned to describe that weather when I was living in Budapest (veri az ördög a feleségét), believe it or not.

😂 We need to submit this banishing to YouTube.

What's worst is when after read several articles on the spread of COVID through droplets, and you know the safe distance is actually 10ft to 15ft and the powers to be say stay 6ft apart, and you get to the checkout counter and there is a guy on your tail 2ft from you with no mask.....
