They're doing a 10v knife too!

The lengths people will go to.

They buy CPM 10V from Crucible. They go out of their way to buy their Micarta in the US too. And they still ship all of these components 6,000 miles to Chine to assemble it, then another 6,000 back to sell it to an American who wants to save $100.

I get it, that knife's an incredible value. But man, it seems pretty ridiculous.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Or it just highlights how much cheaper things can be made over seas. Think of all the stuff from harbor freight, or worse dollar tree. Thousands of lbs of crap being brought in that's good for a short time and then off to the dump

Yeah I agree pretty ridiculous if they're going through all that. What I found odd is the Blade HQ description calls it "brand new 10v steel." I believe 10v was one of the first cpm steels if not the first. I wonder can one buy recycled 10v?

Yea, I mean that's for sure the case. I think the difference for me is that when I buy a $5 tool from harbor freight, I know that I'm buying a $5 tool from Harbor Freight. I expect it to perform like a $5 tool Fromm harbor freight, and I'm buying it because it's the cheapest tool that will get the job done.

In this scenario, I bet the knife is really good, I just wonder how much cheaper this knife could have been made if they had just used a higher-end Chinese steel (like Artisan's RPM-9) and Chinese micarta.

There's also this weird marketing angle where they're promoting a Chinese product made with American materials. Like am I supposed to support American workers by buying a Chinese knife made with American materials? I guess?
