Had to try out a clickbait title at least once but this really helps me.
I know lots of us can't afford the most expensive tools but you still run into this even with Wiha drivers. There's times where the screw has a torx head that falls between two sizes. No matter the brand no driver will fit. So I decided to make a few half size torx bits.
All you need to do is grind the tip off as it's made with a taper it gets larger the more material you take off. Best to start with some cheap bits. Take your time and dip in water often if using a belt sander or grinder. Either of those will only take a few seconds so be careful go slow and check against a known T6 screw for fit.
I even have 2 T6 bits because the vary soo much, one about a T6.3 and the other around T6.7. I kinda wish Wiha would come out with a set that includes half sizes.
The two lower ones are originally T6 with a full size bit on top for comparison.

That is a good idea. Thanx bro.

In a similar vein, a number 2 Phillips driver with a damaged tip can be converted into a serviceable number 3 Phillips driver by grinding the tip down a little.
