The Utility Field Knife (FK2) is up on their site now. This is the thin stock, high hardness version. I wish I had the $$, but after the last two I'm out. 🥵
JR, isn't the Kephart think stock high hardness as well?
Mark touched the subject perfectly above Mac, Nathan ran a few FK2’s at a higher hardness with a thinner edge geometry as an experiment with the same D3V. That is what is available right now.

Gotcha. 18 as opposed to 20 and just a very little harder.
Yaknow, I still want the basic 5 though. I like the extra blade length and if I really don't need it any thinner behind the edge.
I have really enjoyed this Kephart so far.
I will say that she didn't come as sharp from Nathan as I thought she would have. But, I've got her sharper with the SharpMaker now.
Going camping tomorrow. I'll try and take some pics of some finely tuned marshmallows sticks :nerd

I like the looks of the FK2 vs the Kephart, but performance should be just as good on the Kephart. The handle should be better for long term use as well.

Besides, I’ll have the DEK1 for a “looker”. 🙃

Not me. I’ve decided against getting one since I already have a FK2. It’s a little heavier and for only what, another 1/4” blade length or so..

I’m waiting for the SDFK!

Wow Josh. You got some beautiful leather sheaths too!
Would you mind telling what each model is and give some 411 on the leather sheaths too please? :nerd

Top down, LC, FK2, DEK1, EDC2.

The LC came with a custom Sage Gear leather sheath with drop loop.

The FK2 is wearing a custom belt loop sheath by Paul Long with dark brown leather embellishment and rattlesnake inlay.

The DEK1 and EDC2 is wearing custom ISP sheaths from Joufuu Leather, they ride inside your pants pocket. I also have a matching Paul Long sheath with rattlesnake inlay for the DEK1 as well.

Those are super nice Josh. Thanx for the info.
I'm gonna look into getting one myself.

Just got the shipping notice on my DEK1. I'm still playing with the Kephart, so I'm not sure if the DEK1 is going to get the attention it deserves when it arrives though.

Josh, that sheath for your EDC is virtually identical (down to the clip) to the sheath I have for my Mako. I love that sheath.

I'd love to find a Carothers EDC. Maybe I'll have to scour the internet (or wait for the next run).

I jumped in on the pre-buy for the Kephart, was looking for a more traditional Kephart design then my 3V Lt Wright Genesis. Both knives are within $5 price. Hands down you get more with the Carothers knife, machining and handle finish is exceptional. I bought the Genesis it was everything I could want in a camp knife. Still need to put the Carothers through the paces to see if I like the handle/contemporary design.

I don’t think there will ever be anymore runs of the EDC1/2/3. I got lucky after looking for one for years on the secondary. I think their is a plan down the road for a Micro EDC though, not sure about size or anything related to it.

And thanks about the sheath, I absolutely love that sheath paired with the EDC2.

My Kephart arrived on Friday, before my DEK1. I’d post a picture, but it looks exactly like MacLaren’s posted earlier. Disappointingly, I’ve no chance to use it yet.
