Scored this morning. Quick on the draw:

Great Eastern Cutlery: #89 Tidioute - Stainless Fruit Knife - Lemon Bright Acrylic

And it glows in the dark! What?!! Can't wait to see this one.

I may have sell a few of mine because they are too valuable to actually use. That is a bitter pill to me as they are well made tools for use, but the well has been poisoned.

Been poisoned for sure. That’s why I got out while the getting was good. Only kept one, my Case Bose Cattle Knife. It’s the only traditional I carried anyways. I’m not a collector anyways, I like to use all of my knives.

Part of the value to me is using. Even if a $100 knife is worth 2x or 3x after purchase, I still get more than that enjoying them. Not using a $100 knife or $300 knife is like owning an expensive paper weight.

I have about 5 left. I started buying them years ago when they'd sit at the dealers for months - even the Barlows. Now any Barlow is gone the moment it drops and will be popping up for sale moments later for $200+. My last Barlow I sold for $250 and actually could of gotten more since it was one of the rarer ones.

But as frustrating as it is now to get one, I'm glad to see them selling like they are. Hopefully they are making a good profit and are able to stay in business. Sadly there are not many American companies making traditional slipjoints. Case & GEC are about it. I liked Canal Street Cutlery too, but they went under.

GEC needs to raise prices. Yes, me of all people asking for a maker to raise prices. There is little benefit to GEC to allow a runaway secondary market. GEC should be pocketing more dollars instead of the flippers. With all the hand work they do for each knife, they were charging too little already.

This. They absolutely do need to raise their prices. Agreed ten fold.

Oh, and while not GEC, GP also shows some caplifter Boker traditionals coming soon. Solingen made with N690. Nice attainable model if you missed out on the GEC releases.

Looks like GEC decided to raise prices. The increased prices have slowed sales to a somewhat more reasonable pace. Seems some of the flippers have dropped out leaving a few more pieces available on the primary market. Still too difficult to get one, IMO. But, they are an addiction for me. Yes, I pocket some of them because they are too good not to use.

Edited to fix typo.

DLT + KSF are my favorites. Highly recommend the DLT Insiders group on Facebook for drop notices.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
