Ace Grand Natural Micarta

#1

Post by BLUETYPEII »

Does anyone know where to pick up a new Giantmouse Ace Grand with natural micarta?

I had one in the cart at Blade HQ but I wasn’t quick enough.

This is the only non Spyderco knife I’ve been interested in for some time. In my opinion the knife looks beautiful and all the reviews I’ve seen give it high praise. I’ve seen a few reviews comparing it to the Spyderco Shaman and though I don’t own a Shaman. I think the comparison is a complement.

Let me know what you all think about the Giantmouse Ace Grand and, are you going to try to get one for yourself?

Have the Biblio with their natural Micarta and an Iona from Ace, love them both. Also want the Grand and can't find one. I can say it's little brother, the Biblio is excellent and they do a great job on that Micarta.

I can't believe that for the steel, materials and finish these retail for under $200... I might get one or two this year if budget permits.

I've looked at GiantMouse a lot, but I can't get past the liner lock and pull the trigger. It's probably better for my wallet that way, though.

I had an Ace Biblio for awhile. Green Canvas Micarta. It was a very nice knife, but ultimately I sold it. It was a bit small for my hand and I had my eye on other knives.

I got a green micarta Grand not too long ago, and so far I think it's excellent. The only things I'd change would be to make the detent slightly stronger, and the liner lockbar a bit larger. I also would love a ti frame lock version with a single micarta scale. Otherwise I love it, and IMO it rivals the Shaman (which is a huge favorite of mine). Both beefier knives, but still very stylish with excellent ergos.

I see that DLT and GPKnives both have "out of stock" pages up for the natural micarta ones, but since those are brand new, they probably just haven't received theirs yet.

It's a stellar knife, and arguably better than the actual GM5. Mine is OD green from the initial drop.

How better, do you think? I'd love a GM5, but I've never handled one.

Thanks but I think $315 is a little too steep.
