So after Vivi posted about his low cost Casio, I went and bought a Casio W800H. It is like a $17 watch. I have enjoyed wearing that one over my $100 G-Shock. I have extremely thin wrists. The large G-Shock is just not a good fit for me, but I liked the features. After some time with the Casio W800H, I decided the fit was much better and more comfortable for me than my old G-Shock. Also, the bevel was not so large that wearing long sleeves or jackets in the winter wasn't a pain in the backside.

The only thing I missed about my larger G-Shock was the light feature. I really prefer the greenish illumination that illuminates the entire screen with no dark spots to the single non-LED light on the W800H. So, I discovered for $50 you can get the Square G-Shock or the DW-5600. It basically has the look of the W800H, but with the illumination of the larger Digital G-Shocks. The material quality and texture feels just like my more expensive G-Shock, just with a different square screen that is lower profile.

the dw5600 is my favorite watch except the buttons are recessed to the point I cannot use them with my bare hands. I hate it, they even make a black and green one thatd match my pacific salt. such a nice model.

luckily the w218h is basically the same watch with better buttons:

Image

Only $15 too so I've bought nearly every color....including the green and black!

You are correct. The DW5600 has too much recess on the buttons. Need to use a fingernail or tip of the finger. I don't see it as a good option if you use the stopwatch often. I do like the illumination better. I probably use that more than anything.

Notoriously cheap am I. But for $29 how could I go wrong?
So I bought my first smartwatch direct from Aliexpress, a zobvboz SK7 Plus.
This thing has more than 20 functions and a thousand times more RAM
than my old Apple II Plus personal computer.

The instructions remind me of a Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon routine.
"Everything you could possibly want to know about a smartwatch
is on this one piece of paper," Ed would gloat.
The crowd would chuckle in anticipation
and Johnny would uncork the usual insult,
"Wrong watchband breath."

The instructions are the tip of the iceberg. I am such a luddite.
Not that long ago, one had to draw blood and send it to a lab
to find out the blood oxygen level. Now, it's on my wrist along with
blood pressure, heart rate and ECG.

But so far the zodvboz is relegated to my right wrist.
The Invicta homage to the Rolex GMT stays in the position of honor
on my left wrist.

I have a beautiful Breitling Aerospace watch that I’ll likely end up selling. Once I started in with Apple watches I lost interest in traditional watches.

It’s funny… all this tech all the time is what prompted my to go back to analog. I do wear a solar atomic Casio, but no smart watches for me. I want that separation. In fact I’m looking into vintage manual winders now!

Very happy with this solar atomic chunk of steel on my wrist. The lepidolite bracelet looks all girly and pink :cheap-sunglasses but actually works a treat in keeping your composure in these stressful times, being a naturally occurring form of lithium.

It takes a man with self confidence to wear a pink bracelet

Last night I watched the movie Nobody with Bob Odenkirk
of Better Call Saul fame. He plays a completely different character.
It's on HBO. I recommend it if you like violence, gunplay and action.

Don't want to give it away, but a little girl's bracelet
is key to the plot.

In the meantime, I could sure use some lithium.

My $30 Timex. Not pretty, dinged up a bit, but it's served my purposes very well for around a decade so far, and still going strong:

I haven't worn a watch in a long time...a couple of decades or more actually. I kept knocking 'em off my wrist. Nowadays I lead a much less active life style so that won't be as much of a problem. I have a couple of old analog watches in storage somewhere that were given to me and I was wondering where you guys send them to be cleaned or restored? Do you still go down to the local Jeweler and have them take care of it? What am I looking at here? Can't remember the make of my Dad's watch, but the one my friend (now deceased) gave me is an automatic Seiko with a Pepsi Cola dial.

I appreciate the vote of confidence Mac, not just one but two pink bracelets. Luckily my loud shirts and bald head kinda mitigate the girly factor.

The movie sounds interesting but is not listed on Netflix yet so will have to wait. Even my pops loves Better call Saul and he's notorious for not liking much of anything really. I try to stay away from violent movies as much as possible but I'm sure liking this latest one by Roland Emmerich that came in today, the one about the moon that falls... :cheap-sunglasses

Seriously though, lepidolite dude... it works.

In case people are wondering, left wrist is a Casio MTG-S1000BD-1AER which I got a really good deal on last year after that Steinhart OVR I had ordered from the factory in Germany for my 45th birthday/midlife crisis got lost in the mail. Convinced this was a sign from above, I vowed to never buy a Swiss watch again and by accident found this stainless steel Casio in a shopwindow at a local AD which I refuse to name here cuz it would freak people out...

NOT wearing at the moment, Friday when I got home my turtle’s bracelet failed and it dropped to my rough textured concrete driveway 😱

Thankfully the watch is fine, it magically landed right side up fully supported off the concrete by the bracelet; the inside of the bracelet is severely rashed up. And since I never liked the diver extension of the bracelet digging into my wrist I’m taking the opportunity to order an Uncle Seiko super oyster for it… in two months when they’re available 😒
