What watch you're wearing?
Re: What watch you're wearing?
The watch I have is the subject of ridicule by many watch connoisseurs and collectors. And considered cheap.
But I love it. And prefer it over many other brands.
Lightweight, affordable, keeps good time, easy to read for bad eyes.

Now if a person could only find a watch band with chains and spikes.
Oh, wait ! Here's one.
Hey, Josh1973, I'm just messing with you.
If I could rock a look like that, I bet I could get laid.
Welcome aboard and more power to you.

All good Mad Mac. At my age those spikes don't get me laid as much as make me look like I suffer from the Peter Pan syndrome lol.

The important bit is that you like it! Doesn't matter what others think.
Now that I'm in my 50's and can't see fine detail up close I'm finding my taste in watches
Is gravitating to high contrast legible designs.

Another feature of the Swatch I like Cycletroll is the ease of removing battery. You don't have to remove the entire back case. Just take a penny, flat head screw driver, or anything with a flat head and twist counter clockwise to remove the small cap on back of the case. Very simple, DIY, and easy to change your own battery without sacrificing water resistance integrity.

That Suunto I posted has the same feature. Pretty nice design choice.Josh1973 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 5:37 pmAnother feature of the Swatch I like Cycletroll is the ease of removing battery. I'm a tee shirt and jeans, black fitted hat with a curved brim, a pair of skate shoes or some comfy Nikes kind of guy. But I do like a nice watch for some reason.

So it goes.
Re: What watch you're wearing?
I recently replaced a banged-up Timex I wore as a work watch with a Bertucci DX-3. Basically, my rules are simple for watches--field watch, under $100; 40mm case. I can read this one better, the luminescence is MUCH better than Indiglo, and pretty cheap. I bought it "certified used" (but completely unused) directly from them for $35 shipped. That's half what the Timex it replaced was 5 years ago. I've also decided date complications are something I am avoiding from now on out. If a date function was important, I'd go with a G-Shock.
Being lightweight and easy to read, this is now my go-to.

Re: What watch you're wearing?
I do not know for certain being I only got this 5 months ago. I have heard life is between 2 and 3 years. Since batteries are cheap I just make habit to change mine once a year and carry a spare battery.Cycletroll wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 5:44 pmVery sensible design!Josh1973 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 5:37 pmAnother feature of the Swatch I like Cycletroll is the ease of removing battery. I got a cheap Casio digital watch for work and nostalgia reasons with the claimed 10 year battery. In reality I expect 4 to 7 years.

I like the read out display on that watch. Looks easy to read for older eyes.
Re: What watch you're wearing?
All good Mad Mac. At my age the spikes don't help with getting laid and only make me look like I suffer from the Peter Pan syndrome lol. Most mature women or even younger Women from what I experienced don't like Punker stuff.
I had a band like that a few years ago and hated how uncomfortable and sweat inducing it was. I got rid of it quick.
Re: What watch you're wearing?
The font is much larger than my Casio Gshocks, like the dw5600. I like the green backlight too, reminds me of the original gameboy.
Hoping to try out the ABC features on a hike tomorrow after work. Haven't gotten to mess around with them too much yet. I did compare the elevation readings with my CasioPro Trek going up and down my stairs and the Suunto seemed a little more sensitive to height changes.

Re: What watch you're wearing?
Glad to see you finally sporting one, vi! I tell you, it looks much better in your large wrists than on mine. :D
Looking forward for your ABC testing it it correlates to my experience too.

Re: What watch you're wearing?
after accidentally stumbling into the term EDC about 5 years ago, I’ve stepped into one rabbit hole after the other.
Watches was the most expensive by far. And it escalated quickly. My initial roof of 5-6 watches was obliterated and I ended up well north of 20 watches before I could hold back the momentum of the ship and course correct.
I have a few I want to keep, and the rest will eventually find a new home.
One of my favorites, and proof that watches don’t have to be expensive, is the original Boldr Venture quartz. Sadly it was replaced by a bigger and bulkier mechanical successor.
Very light, low profile titanium case, decent quartz movement and a factory NATO strap that suits the watch nicely

Re: What watch you're wearing?
I like those bertucci watches. That's a decent price for a ti field watch with sapphire crystal.

Old school watch for an old guy.
