Yeah, he was one of the truly great ones. If not for him, we would never have gotten to the moon, nor would we have the Blackbird and other supersonic jets.

I'm sure there must be other great quotes from Yeager, but I saw this one many years ago and saved it:

"Do something you like. Forget about the pay, for Christ's sakes. Regulate your style of living to fit your income. Just have fun in your job, that's the main thing." ~ General Chuck Yeager

Years (decades ago) I read his autobiography.
Fascinating.
I was flying Hang-gliders at that stage.

Read with interest how they could not understand why the jets they were test flying kept nose diving into the ground.
He discovered the yoke needed to be pushed forward at Mach 1 to prevent plane nosing in...

Imagine having the cajones to do that at the speed of sound.

Another World War II era American Hero. People of his caliber are rare. My condolences sincerely.

Definitely an inspiration, and a real adventurer. Rest In Peace, General Yeager.

Chuck Yeager was my hero as a kid. My father had me read The Right Stuff when it was released in ‘79 (and took me to see it in a theater when the movie was released a couple of years later). My father was a big history buff and for some reason had latched on to Chuck Yeager as well, so I knew who he was long before the book was released.
