Virtual Memorial for Michael Douglas Scott

#1

Post by Bloke »

Very sad to share our friend Michael Scott passed away quietly at his home on Saturday morning, 6th November.

I chatted with Michael regularly over the years and fair to say he was a friend of mine. We hadn’t spoken in about a month at which time he was unwell but you’d never think it chattering with him. He was always upbeat and we shared plenty of laughs.

I don’t know that I can add much else but I was deeply saddened when Michael’s daughter answered the phone on Friday evening and told me in tears of the situation there. She put me on load speaker but my friend couldn’t talk and passed away the following morning.

Oh my... that's so sad.

His birthday was just a few days back right?

I haven't been long here but he seemed to have made some friends during his time here.

I know he was fighting a disease based on his last thread that I saw, but I never thought that he would pass away so quickly.

I don't know if he even saw the greetings his friends have posted here.

That's just sad. Prayers to his family.

****, I'm sorry to hear this. I had a bad feeling when I looked him up shortly before his birthday because I hadn't seen him on here in a bit and when he's feeling well, he's always been one of the regulars. He put up a good fight, and for quite some time. Condolences to his friends and family.

I had the same feeling as I hadn't seen any posts from him in weeks. Sad to hear. Cancer is an awful thing.

****, was just talking about him the other day and was concerned this was why he was gone. I know he was fighting like ****. May he RIP. I know this year has totally been the worst year ever and can relate, lost my dad three weeks ago. I hope and pray 2021 is a better year.

He was certainly a Spyderco Man. He did not have long to live and I am sure that he knew that, and yet chose to spend some of his last living moments with us here on the Spyderco Forums talking about knives.

We are defined by what we love and how we live and he seemed like a gentle soul, looking for like minded hobbyists. I hope that being here brought him some peace of mind.

He was such a worldly guy, seemed to know a little bit about everything. I really liked reading some of his posts about things other than knives. His extensive vocabulary would throw me off sometimes and I'd have to Google some of the words haha! I also liked that he had a bit of fire in him and wouldn't hesitate to voice his opinion, even if it differed from the masses.

For what it's worth, I hope his family knows that he was a part of our family here as well and it sure sounds like it's been noticed by multiple people that he hasn't been around lately. I think that says a lot.

It saddens me to hear this. I wasn't close to him like some of you were but he has been a great part of this community and I will miss his contributions. My condolences go out to his family.
