Man, I love 💘my midlife crisis muffler!! :D
Hahahaha I feel like I’m starting my midlife crisis **** too and I’m barely 36. I got a feeling I might come home with a Cummins before a trailer makes it home..

I’m considering a Borla for my Explorer. Aside from the way it sounds, does it add any performance to the vehicle?

If it's just a catback exhaust or muffler, likely only a maximum of 5hp maybe? When it comes to exhaust, and looking for performance it's best to go with a full exhaust with a high flow catalytic converter (or cat delete if you're lucky enough to be in a state where it's legal)

To get the most power, a full exhaust with a dyno tune will get you the maximum results. When I was into the tuner scene I once gained 40hp and over 50ft/lbs of torque on my Evo X just from a turbo back exhaust, intake and a tune. Tuning the vehicle to the aftermarket parts brings out the beast in any vehicle.

What Rick said.
Mine is just a GM Stamped Borla Catback.
But, it's dam good for a GM version!
The Borla S isn't yet ready for the 2020/2021 Silverado/Sierra 2500 HD just yet.
I just wanted a better sound than stock.
Plus, no one can Crack GM's algorithm code for the new trucks, or I should say it's just too expensive ( as for tuning )
I think I worded that correctly, right Rick?

Thanks guys! I’m not going to mess with tuning. Don’t want to screw with my warranty. If the Borla is purely about sound then I’ll probably leave the stock exhaust.

I love the sound my truck has now. No way I would go back to the stock exhaust.
But......my truck didn't have factory dual exhaust and sounded like a car before.
The 2019 1500 I had came with factory dual exhaust and that was fine with me - although it didn't sound nearly as good as this Borla does.
However, a stock exhaust will just last forever
I'm not sure how long this Borla will last.
So the factory exhaust has excellent longevity

Borla used to offer a million-mile warranty. If they still do, that would be a good selling point.

Another thought: if you want to see really big power gains, you'll have to open up the engine, mess with the computer, and/or add forced induction. Claims of massive power gains from bolt-on parts, as far as I've seen, are nothing more than marketing hype.

Yep, exactly as I said...it's all about the tune. I didn't have a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder car that put out 383whp without some computer/dyno tuning!

Love my truck, but I miss my awd rocket as well. Had to sell it for a new kitchen :(

Dan, I don't mean to intrude on your post, but I'm glad you mentioned that Borla million mile warranty
I had no idea that a Borla Exhaust would last as long as they do! Most exhausts don't.
Gosh, when I decided to get it, I went only by what the GM website said about it.
But now, I find that they are designed to last life of the vehicle. Like yiu said a million mile warranty 20,000 miles for 50 years
Wow.....

Well, I feel tremendously fortunate to have gotten my Silverado 2500 HD when I did! (March 4 this year)
Used 2500 trucks are INSANE!!!!
The sticker on my truck was $50k - Brand New.
As of a couple days ago, no less, the very same truck I bought, but a year older (2020 model) with 20,000 miles are going for $$57,000 !!
Supply and Demand in its finest form lol....
A lot of guys are selling theirs for at least $10k PROFIT
I would myself, but I absolutely need my truck to pull my travel trailer with.
I've never in my 49 years ever saw the used truck market like it is right now.....

Yeaaa...I'm kind of sick to my stomach that I sold our camper last May, and lost around $6,000 on it. Took a loan out of my 401k and pay it back through paycheck contributions for 3 years :o

I likely could have broke even or even got more than I owed this year. In our area, available campers are apparently getting to be pretty scarce and people are overpaying.

Absolutely Rick. Campers are in very high demand.
****, I have no doubt we will loose money on ours. This won't last forever.
Told my wife before we bought, it's a loosing proposition. But, then again they are a lot of fun. Especially for the wife and kids. Good memories
Edit- lol, I did tell my wife, I said , ya know what, we could prolly sell both camper and ruck and maybe even make a grand and be out of the debt - lol, I knew what the answer was gonna be before I brought it up, but a little part of me wanted to mention it in hoping she would say yes, let's sell. - I was dreaming
But, I do love that they love it.

Thanx Rick!
Man, I haven't actually washed and waxed a vehicle in quite some time lol....and this ain't a little vehicle...it was a job. I usually just have them detailed once in a while. But, it turned out OK

Josh, I've never saw anything like it.
And, I was buying cars and trucks in '97,& '98 :D
Hehehe......I wanted a Silverado sooooo bad around that time or, heck it may have been around '95 and dealers just would not budge off the sticker price.
I remember asking one dealer, ya gotta knock a little off!? He said, son we just don't have to. This truck will be gone by the end of the day tomorrow.
But, for used trucks to be MORE - Helll, THOUSANDS more than the original sticker price is just - never before seen that I know of.
