This entire year is so strange from different standpoints. Because most everyone I know is having a really bad year>> however from a plethora of different reasons. My ordeal for instance is completely different from most other people's. I haven't been hurt economically with the exception of medical costs, co-pays, medications ect. There hasn't been hardly any virus problems where I live at but a policeman I talk to here on occasion in this town tells me that domestic violence is off the charts :(
We are having a tidal wave of car repossessions, mortgage defaults and businesses crashing but again no virus problems to speak of at all.
It is truly like the entire nation is dealing with a "curse" of some sort. And I don't know very many people that aren't suffering in one way or the other  But again very, very few people are "unaffected"

Hey JD, I just found this thread and join the others in wishing you a complete recovery. 2020 has been a difficult year for nearly everyone I know, but your bodily travails sound extra harsh. Oof!

I find the counting of my blessings to be a very good way to avoid the trap of self pity when things aren’t going well for me. It seems like somebody always has it worse. I enjoy your many interesting posts here and want you to heal up and keep participating for many years to come.

You know something Bill this has been one extremely weird year even with all my personal travails aside :o . When I went face first into that concrete I doubt if Mike Tyson could have made me hurt any worse. I'm just thankful I didn't fracture my skull. I just got out of my second shoulder surgery of this year on the 14th and this one is just mean.

But with all the other people in my neighborhood not handling this COVID problem very well I've kind of become like the neighborhood counselor if you can believe that. I don't ever remember a time in my life where I've seen so many adult people not handling stress very well like I have this year. Our generation has never had it rough like many of our parents and grandparents did ( Great Depression, World War II ect). I do hope at some point cooler heads will prevail.

Joe,

Someday, people will look back on these times we’re living now as turbulent times. And they certainly are. In many ways, it is like the 1960s, but without great music. And this Covid thing and the resulting economic damage is like nothing seen in many decades, if ever.

Wishing you a fast recovery.

Jim

It has been a difficult year. For most of the country. Joe, I hope you are doing ok and getting better. I had 4 shoulder surgeries and none were easy over a 3 year period . One almost killed me. They are very painful surgeries without doubt. Not having use of that arm for however long it takes until healing and rehabbing it sucks!. It made driving while shifting in traffic fun. I had to involve my hips and knees more than usual. I stopped having surgeries because it just got too difficult trying to care for myself with only whatever arm I was able to use while between getting both done. I'll never have full use of either and they will always be problematic but at least I can do most things with them now. I'm even to the point I'll shoot the hard recoiling rifles and lightweight 12 ga.'s again but they will never be as fun as they used to be. 2 weeks ago I had my doctor tell me I was diabetic now. Never had trouble all my life and suddenly she comes out with " By the way..." I look at it this way. I needed to improve my diet anyways and it sure could always be worse. :)

I don't want many more years like this has been though. :D
