Reasonable tools are now so cheap I doubt many bother still, but my first tool kit was largely made up of salvaged pieces.
I spent many hours regrinding tips, polishing out rust and revarnishing handles!
Most has been replaced now but my 1/2” drive socket set is still my original random selection, and still going strong.

Fascinating video. I wonder what the total value of all the equipment he used to salvage that screwdriver was.
