New S & W 629 PC
Just got her in a couple hours ago.
As far as I can tell thus far, Smith really did an excellent job on this one. The trigger is just phenomenal. I hope to shoot her some tomorrow just to be sure. At any rate, this is my 1st .44 Magnum.
I really don't want anything more powerful. This is plenty of power lol.... Here's a few pics. Thanx as always for letting me share gang. Special thanx to OldHoosier62, he is a true resource gang......

Welcome to the .44Mag world! I would recommend training with .44 Specials, a-lot cheaper. Yours looks Very nice! Huge 629 fan here. Between the two of us we have it covered from Big to Small, lol. This one from the Performance Shop has a super light trigger in single action but the double action pull is almost as sweet, so smooth!
Edited to add, not sure how the same pic posted twice. Sorry for that!

Re: New S & W 629 PC
Thank you, Red!
That's an awesome .44 you have!
I love the un-fluted cylinder!
I had originally wanted the V-Comp 629 but, I couldn't turn down the Competitor for the money....no way.
* I would agree! The PC double action trigger is extremely nice. As good as my 1977 model 19-3!!
I am truly impressed with the Performance Center.

Thank you. Your Competitor is awesome. So cool to see that. Made my day, It will be an absolute tack driver, all the PC revolvers are flawless!

Hehehe......
I've always wanted to own a .44 Magnum.
Should be fun....... I hope anyways.
Nah, it seems like its gonna be a sweet shooter.
Prolly won't be as much muzzle flip, but rather a straight push back. Will still be pretty stout though.

With a rubber grip like that I find them pretty soft to shoot and a lot of fun. Lotta HAWSPOWWAAA lol.

Oh I'm not lucky enough to own one but I've got every one I can get my hands on. I think my next is gonna be a small frame .357.

Beastly! My friend has a 500, .50 caliber. I'm not sure about the practicality of such things, but I do understand the appeal.

Re: New S & W 629 PC
I second the use of ,44 specials for practice/plinking...my magnums get lots of "cowboy loads" (240gr @ 850fps) for fun and my carry loads are Winchester 210gr Silvertips because of being controllable and low flash in reduced light. (Yes, I still believe in carrying a wheelgun for personal defense). The specials add to the fun of shooting without damaging wrists, ears..etc and your Smith & Wesson lasts much longer without the magnum punishment.
My hunting loads are "Keith-type loads" and MUCH hotter...and much less pleasant to shoot from the bench. Out of my 2in. Lew Horton 629 they are truly punishing even though its Mag-Na-Ported.
And as I told MacLaren...don't shoot the crazy hot or heavy bullet stuff out of an S&W, buy yourself a Ruger Redhawk or Super Redhawk for the nuclear level ammo (Underwood, heavy Buffalo Bore or your overzealous handloads)....your S&W will thank you for it.

Re: New S & W 629 PC
David, I really would recommend a model 19 2.5" if thats not too big a frame. I absolutely love the 19-3 that I inherited from my dad.Evil D wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:30 pm

That should have said "shot" every one I could get my hands on... stupid autocorrect.
It's just a wish list thing right now but I think my next gun purchase is definitely gonna be a wheel gun. I like the Ruger SP101 series, they come in some nice easy to conceal sizes, though those suckers are pretty hot to fire with .357 in them.

The 2.5in S&W 19 (or 66 in stainless) was considered the penultimate concealed carry revolver for at least 30 years. Accurate, concealable and powerful. It and a quality holster are still a good choice.
