Lets see those pets!

#1

Post by Red »

I accidentally posted a photo of my dog to another thread last night, oh the joys of a cracked screen! But...got me to thinking about a show your pets thread. I am a career bachelor so Bella is more like a roommate than a pet but I just love her to death. Adopted her from an animal shelter where I volunteer 7 years ago. She got me through the most difficult times of my life. First in 2017 after hurricane Irma destroyed my home and almost everything I owned and then recently when my Dad was killed. She is ornery and opinionated and beyond stubborn but I am absolutely convinced she is an Angel from above. I am trying to talk my step-mom into a dog after Dad passed and she asked me for the best reason why and I told her Bella gives me at least 100 smiles everyday!

I was wondering about your dog pic in the reptile thread. ;)

It's amazing how much love and comfort our pets can give us in hard times. When my dad passed very unexpectedly in 2008, he had two dogs: a brother and sister, half lab, half English mastiff. They were like his 3rd and 4th children, and they came to live with me. Those two really got me through losing dad - they were such gentle giants, and I think were the best snuggle buddies ever.

I am sorry your Dad passed unexpectedly. I personally am going through it now and its very hard. You are exactly right about the love from them. This photo is on my way home to Texas to re-group after the hurricane. She knew I was stressed and had her paw on me the whole time. Now, with Dad she follows me everywhere. They just know.

And I'm so sorry you're having to go through this loss now - I know how painful it is. I'm so glad you've got your Bella to help you through it. Like you said, they just know, and just want to make it all better.

“Pets” don’t come close to what my dogs mean to me. I belong to them. :)

Romeo is a 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer who decided he wanted to live with me last October when I visited a local animal shelter.

The first pic is my former Sacred Burmese, Jango, who we had to put down in early February. That kitten meant the world to me.
Second pic is our current, Midnight, a noisy, hug-loving cat-dog. We love him too, of course.
