Your brother isn't the only person who says that but he's absolutely correct. :) "Defense wins Championships!" That saying has almost become cliché over the years but it's definitely true. Defense is the reason why the leagues highest scoring offense only scored 3 points in Superbowl 53. Also, Parcell's years with the Giants were their best because he had Bill Belichick running the defense. ;)

It's the other way around. Belichick got his discipleship from Bill Parcells. Had it not been for Parcells mentoring him he wouldn't be where he is today I'm sure of it.
Now the Chief's defense this past year I would rate above average but I wouldn't put their defensive unit in the same conversation of the 85 Bears or 2000 Ravens by any means. I do think that Spagnuolo has done great so far but he hasn't reached Buddy Ryan status by any means. But he's heading in the right direction IMO.
Also it was Kyle Shanahan laying an egg in that one Superbowl against the Falcons. That was truly disgusting for sure.

And last season blowing the lead in yet another Superbowl.

Changing gears just for a sec, I think it noteworthy that Big Sexy himself, none other than Bartolo Colon is making a comeback at age 47. He pitched in the Majors at age 45!
Here's to hoping Big Sexy can get'er done for one more season in the Bigs. Hopefully, he will get picked up by the Show again and not have to stay in the Minors all year.
.....This is assuming of course that MLB picks back up this season

Some of the moves the Red Sox made this offseason were just infuriating... It's going to be a very interesting season for them, if there is one.

Do they even have a date for MLB to return? I don't even miss the NBA anymore. The only time I ever watched them was playoff time.

Even if they cancel the NFL pre-season I really don't care. It would be most interesting if the NFL didn't have a pre-season

Well, I pulled up Atlanta's schedule last night, and it started at 7-17
So, maybe it will resume July 17?

I'm going to take back what I said earlier about being certain that the NFL season will start on time. After listening to a couple of news broadcasts I'm not so sure now. Because I'm not sure of anything in this present environment.

I'm hoping that come September we can be watching Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and several other superstars perform on the gridiron. But I'm just not so sure. And I hope to GOD I'm wrong.

Yep, theres still a real chance that the NFL season doesn't happen at all but I think they'll try to play with no fans before cancelling it.

After losing the end of both the NHL and NBA seasons, I NEED the NFL to start on time!

That's truly a possibility Mushroom because truly with all the loot the NFL makes just on advertising alone they could afford to do it if they had to. They get tons of money from several sources. Even if they did have a loss at the end of the year I bet there are all kinds of tax breaks they could be entitled to which would make up for it.

They've been talking here in KC about possibly letting the Royals play with no fans in the stands. And very few people objected to it. So you might be on to something there.

Sure could use some football news. Wish it was a normal year and it was already September.

I hear ya Spydergirl. I'm still just blown away at how the XFL went broke so quickly. I think it could return but it's going to take a lot of investors.

Talk about really bad timing coupled with super bad luck>> I think the XFL could have thrived under normal circumstances.

What's really strange is that by this time of the year the Sports radio stations here in KC are usually talking about the upcoming KC Chiefs season. But they ain't hardly talking about anything much lately. This is a bad episode of the "Twilight Zone" >> because nothing else makes any sense at all.

Normalcy would be amazing!! As we in Central NY moved into phase 2 of reopening our area this past Friday due to Covid-19...now as of tonight, we are under curfew from 8:00pm-7:00am because our city of Syracuse rioted instead of protested last night due to the George Floyd death.

This year is an absolute mess. One thing starts to look a bit better, then something else comes along.

Yeah the 2020 season may not be a certainty at all. I hope they get a handle on all of these problems we've been having by the time football season starts.

It's been a while back on the OFF TOPIC part of the forum I had a thread on the year 1969>> because it was a very eventful and unusual year that was also riddled with tragedy. I was a young guy but I also remembered 1969 to be an extremely strange year. But I don't think it even closely compares to this year 2020. I don't remember a year with such a diversity of weird events like this year has been so far. GOD help us :(

No Patrick has a nice career ahead of him here at good ol CowTown. His Rock Star status just keeps gettin bigger here in KC. No way, No Way, No Way
