Has the Coronavirus affected your daily life?

Haven’t been on here in a while.
Schools are closed for 2 weeks or a month depending on the school. I’m in NorCal and we have the virus in the community. News reports say 5 cases in my county. Doc friend says one hospital has more cases than than that already But docs can’t talk to news, etc. Sounds like 30 and 40 year olds on ventilators already. Younger are getting ventilators and if you are 60,70 or older...you might be on your own. Still very little testing. Good buddy of mine has been coughing for 3 weeks. Fever too. His doc wouldn’t test him because there are few tests and he didn’t travel. His Doc says he just had pneumonia. He is getting better. I was worried because he has heart disease. But he was also working. Work 2 days. Then stay home 3 exhausted. My doc friend, who is very not panicky, said this will get bad next week. Hospital is running out of masks and gloves.
Personally, i’ve Had a head ache for a week and I never get them. Lots of pollen in the air. Just allergies? Or I have a mild case? I’m mid 40’s.
Not going to see my parents. Calling them every day though.

Well, we're closing the gym down tomorrow in an effort to help "flatten the curve."

I manage rock climbing gym in California, and this weekend we started limiting access to the facility to promote "social distancing." At this point though, we feel like the best thing we can do to protect our customers is to shut down.

The worst part is of course cutting back employee hours. Our employees are mostly part-timers, but their other workplaces are also impacted. Governor Newsom just called on all bars in the state to shut down, who knows what's next.

And I can't get Amazon to deliver any toilet paper. Damnit.

Schools closed next week. Grocery stores are out of cleaning supplies, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. My wife did find 1 small pack of napkins today. The meat section was very low. Bottled water is at a 2 case limit, IF, they have it in stock.

I just came back from Miami airport and many people wearing surgical masks.

We buy 3 18 count eggs at a time. Just me, my wife, and my 3 year old son. But we eat lots of eggs. Breakfast, use them in baking, for dinner... 55 cents for 18, it's really cheap protein. Might go up a little though, have to keep an eye on it.

I have a freezer stocked with meat and vegetables, and lots of other food, canned and otherwise. We don't like to not have options, so we're good for a while.

I don't get the tp hoarding either... Some people just make no sense.

By the time I leave work today at 5:00, my life will probably be greatly affected...our county has it's first confirmed case. I'm not really worried for myself being 36 and in great health, but I worry for my parents who have multiple medical issues.

They are closing all bars, restaurants, gyms, casino's at 8:00pm tonight. Drive thru/take out food will be available.

I honestly can't believe this is all happening, I know it's for the good of the country, but even weeks ago when Ankerson and Naperville were talking about it and warning everyone, borderline inciting fear...they were 100% correct about what was to come.

I'm over 70 and have heart and respiratory issues, but I'm lucky, in a lot of ways.

Retired, so don't have to worry about being exposed at work by someone who's banking their sick days.

Live alone with my dog, and about the only visitor I ever have is the exterminator every 3 months, so don't have to worry about anyone else bringing it into my home.

Had my annual checkup in January, didn't pick up anything then, so no need to visit a place with an above average risk of being exposed to whatever nasties are currently making the rounds for the foreseeable future.

Not a churchgoer, so not inclined to consider COVID-19 a test of my faith.

Haven't visited a restaurant since the first few days I was down here and my refrigerator hadn't been delivered yet. It's been even longer since I went to a sports event, concert, movie theater, or bar. Haven't been to a gun show so far this year, suspect the ones coming up this month and next may be cancelled. If not, may take my chances and go.

Aside from Walmart and the supermarket I don't really go places where there's much chance of being in a crowd. I'm not a prepper but I do keep a well stocked pantry at all times, so hoarders stripping store shelves of things like TP and rice are not a problem. Beyond that, I tend to food shop at times when stores are least crowded. Gun shops and ranges are about the only other places I visit. They're never that crowded and I also tend to visit them when most folks are at work.

Do wish someone I trust had a definitive answer as to whether people who have picked up CORVID-19 but are not yet showing symptoms can spread it. The problem is, the CDC was still on the fence about this last time I checked and there seem to be as many pundits and self-proclaimed experts saying no as saying yes and I'm not inclined to trust any of them.

Yes. Definitely yes. I realize I'm just a random voice on the internet, but look at it this way;

If you assume they can, you hedge your bets. If you assume they can't you're taking big risks with your life. I'm guessing your past the age of wanting to gamble like that.

Why these idiots ran to buy every roll of toilet paper is not only stupid but a total waste of time and money. In like 23 hours I went to a couple of dozen restaurants and hijacked like 36 huge rolls of TP. Granted it’s single ply but you can always wash your hands afterward. Don’t even get me started on the paper towels, I almost threw my back out.

Kids are off school until April 3 now. We're hunkering down at our property...might as well ride this out somewhere beautiful and relatively isolated.

To alleviate the stress, I discovered a new drink online: the Quarantini! Equal parts vodka and hand sanitizer, served with a disinfecting lemon twist. :p Or sub emergen-c for an actual drinkable Quarantini.

Went on a Walmart run yesterday morning.. no real difference in shopper volume at 8am and the stores were better stocked than I was anticipating (low, but available). A three pack limit was put in place on toilet paper..

As I was entering the store, I observed a husband and wife walking towards check-out, each carrying 3 24-packs of toilet paper. The husband said to his wife "hey wait, didn't that sign say there was a three pack limit on TP?" The wife replied, "yeah, that's why you're going to a different register!" They had no shopping cart - no food, no water, no other products at all - JUST toilet paper. As I continued my shopping, I could not for the life of me wrap my head around the number of people buying ONLY toilet paper! Hahah, It still hurts my brain just thinking about it.. Anyways, between Walmart and Market Basket, I was able to stock up pretty well on supplies (you know, food!!), and should be pretty well set for a couple weeks if I need to be.

In Massachusetts, all schools are closed and they have banned gatherings of 25+ people starting tomorrow.. effectively shutting down gyms, movie theaters, restaurants (except take out), etc. They claim that all grocery stores will stay open, but many have already started reducing hours. I live a stone's throw from the New Hampshire border and actually work in New Hampshire. NH has shut down schools, but I'm not sure if they've put any restrictions in place yet as far as gatherings/restaurants, etc. My work is still open for now.. I work in a small office building.. We've all been sanitizing the **** out of everything, washing our hands raw, and trying to not to breathe on each other, so I'm not too concerned about catching anything there.. yet.. I will continue to report to work until I'm told not to.

I do like walking in the woods and being outside (away from people), and, in the interest of my sanity, I plan on continuing to do those things until I start to feel sick or someone with a bigger gun tells me otherwise.

As much as I think it's good to stay informed about what's going on, I keep reminding myself that the real world exists on the other side of that little screen in my hand.. minor inconveniences aside, it still seems like a pretty safe place to be.. a positive attitude is going to go a long way. :)
