Spyderco story

My copy of the Spyderco story just gained tremendous sentimental value.
Big thanks to Sal, Eric and Joyce for making it happen! You rock!

Very nice.

Paladin Press? 🙂
They sure did offer an interesting array of books, back in the day.

That laser cut knife is pretty cool.

Wonderful. If you can find one if those they might as well be gold bars the cost so much.

That is awesome!!

Luckily, I have a copy of The Spyderco Story myself, bought years ago (either late '90s or the very early 2Ks) at a gun show for around $70 or so.

I'd love to see a Spyderco Story II published someday.

A very cool gift, Larry! Hopefully you will read all articles with interest ... over the years I did so and now my Spyderco story is in rather tattered condition. :p

That would be awesome, too! I wouldn’t be surprised if The Spyderco Story and any sequel/follow-up might even sell better now than it did in its original printing. Even though it’s definitely geared to a niche/specialty market, I could imagine that interest, awareness, and a desire to own such a high-quality book(s) would be higher now.

Definitely! I think there's a much bigger fan base now. I wasn't in the knife collecting and experimenting hobby when the first edition came out, and wasn't familiar with Spyderco. I can think of probably a dozen people that were in the same boat, and every one of us would buy a copy. Shoot, I'd even buy a shoddy scanned copy of the original 😊

I'm not so sure anyone would really give the lofty prices that some people are asking for hardcover copies of the SPYDERCO STORY book that was put out by Palladin Press back in the late 90s. I've seen prices up around the $400 range but I've not heard of anyone first hand really paying that price for a copy.

I'm still trying to find out who Kenneth Delavigne was ( the Author of the Spyderco Story)? I've wondered if he was a Spyderco employee at one time or maybe a good friend of Sal or just someone close to the company?

Actually as progressive as Spyderco has been with their product line I think there is a case to be made for a sequel to the "Spyderco Story" at least every 10 to 15 years. I get my copy out and stroll through it at least every two to three months and find it to be very interesting. I doubt if I would ever sell or trade mine at any price>> unless it got up to the price of a serious lottery prize.

I have just been loaned a copy, and I have to wear cotton gloves when turning the pages!
Apart from the owner's signature, it is just about mint!

Again I would like to know more about the Author of the "SPYDERCO STORY" that being Kenneth Delavigne?? For a guy who wrote such a thorough and comprehensive book about Spyderco I just have to believe that he had a strong connection to the company in some capacity?

I think that Sal himself said a while back that they were working on another book about the Spyderco company. It would be interesting to know if Kenneth Delavigne is working on this next Spyderco book? I sure hope it's going to be here soon.
