Re: The Last Gun You Bought
I finally got that '68 27-2 S Prefix S&W
She is a real honey too. Not nearly as immaculate as the 6" barrel N Prefix I had but, I wanted a very lightly used one. Everything checks out. Numbers match and the action is great. Here's s couple pics

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Thanks David - I appreciate that man.
Reason, I really love the 27, besides it looks which imo, is the best lookin S&W, is that she's built like a tank man. She can handle any 357 mag load and never beat herself out of timing like the S&W 29 in 44 mag can.
And, the other part of the reason is so that I can shoot just 38spc & +p loads out of my model 19-3 snubby.
I don't wanna run hot magnum loads out it, as it could eventually crack the forcing cone. I love my 19-3 man. This 27-2 will really take the heat off it.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Check this out guys........a 1938 Registered Magnum!!
The .357 Magnum was born in 1935 to S&W
Back then they called them the Registered Magnum
General Patton had one as well as his Colt......back then even before 1935 like around WW1 and after (heck even maybe before) people had what they called thier "Killin Gun" - the 3.5" Registered Magnum that General Patton had was his "Killin Gun"
Man, I remember my daddy tellin me about my grandaddy and his Killin Gun he had. My grandad was a WW1 vet whom fought in France - those guys didn't play around. Anyways, this is an absolute masterpiece
This is this dudes 2nd Registered Magnum- I would dare this fellow has deep pockets.

Not as immaculate! That's a beauty.
You are a hard man to please.
A cylinder turn line, heaven forbid.
Enjoy your new killin' gun.
Great pictures too.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Well I haven't been on the forum for about 8 months. I've been buying less knives and more ammo recently, and realize I never posted my pistolas in this thread.
My 70s Dan Wesson 15-2V with 8" barrel and original Sacramento combat grips. I actually bought a whole Pistol Pak, so I have the 2.5", 4", and 6" barrels as well as a bunch of extra sights, walnut target grips, the cylinder spacing feeler gauge, the barrel nut wrench, and the freakin' belt buckle.
Same DW but with period Pachmayr grips. I prefer rubber grips on my .357s.
My two Smiths. A 4.25" Mod. 66 of recent manufacture (Pachmayr grips, of course), and a 1993 "Shorty Forty" (Performance Center-built compact version of the 4006 ordered by Lew Horton in the 90s, one of 1500).
My most recent purchase, a Beretta 92X Compact, with a few other items I was carrying that day (Leatherman Crunch, thrift store wallet, and a Street Beat). The Beretta is holstered in a Milt Sparks Professional made for Wilson Combat.

Outstanding! Tengrainbread
That Pistol Pack is so freakin neat.
Now, did you buy the Pistol Pack new in the '70's?
Also, I LOVE that Shorty 40! You have excellent taste sir.
Even a super nice Milt Sparks holster.
And, I love Pachmayr Grips as well.

Nope, I bought the Pistol Pak on GunBroker about a year ago. I had been waiting for a full Pak to pop up for a relatively reasonable price for a while.
