Wellllll.... I just bought a 1980's 10ga double barrel and 400 rounds of ammo. Going to cut it down to 22in barrels and put Remington screw-in chokes in. Will be a handy turkey gun or a beastly home defense gun....

Lol...looking in my ammo stash I found a half case of 10ga slugs so I might just add rifle sights and make a poor man's African double rifle out of it.

Yes, my mind works in odd ways.
Pics!!!!! :D
My Uncle has a 10 gauge.
Would be really cool to see some before and after pics Jim.
The blasting power of a 10ga.......oh brother.....

As soon as I get it in hand (it's coming from a buddy in Wyoming) I'll post a couple of before pictures before I lop it off and send the barrels out for choke install. Trying to find out if I can convert the extractors to ejectors (some can, some can't). Already have a sling, swivels, a complete set of 10ga RemChokes and after scrounging in my big box of parts/pieces/scraps/junque.....an old set of express sights with a ramped ivory front bead.

I did the same treatment to an American Arms 12ge SxS around 2003 and ended up building about 6 of them for customers because everyone went nuts over them...This ones just going to be a steroid fueled version just for me. Something to keep me busy.

OH62
Sounds great.
Man, I would love to know about half of what you know Jim.

Back to wheel guns a moment, let me tell an S&W story.

My grandfather taught me to shoot and I inherited his Smith and Wesson
K22 Target Masterpiece revolver in 22LR, which I still have.

At a gunshow, I ran across a K38 Masterpiece and bought it.
I forget what the issue was with it, timing or something,
but I took it to the S&W "factory authorized service center" in Houston, where I lived.
It took some doing to find, an unmarked building
in a warehouse district that had seen better days.

The sole gunsmith was lean and wrinkled, wearing dingy khaki,
fingers permanently stained with solvent and lead fouling.
He interrupted our pleasant discussion and moved quickly through the shop.

When he returned, he explained that he had noticed someone outside.
I noticed that he now had a 1911 clipped in his trousers.
I don't think it was an S&W.

I subsequently sold that K38 and an Airweight 38 that I tried out for a while.
Gun stories are like real estate stories. There are only two kinds.
The one I should have bought and the one I should have kept.
Yes, should have kept both of those.

Bought a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I Sporting a couple years ago. Absolutely love it, now if only I could find some bird shot... :D

I am planning on picking up a Ruger Mini 14 once I can find one. I'm in a ban state, so options are limited.

Very economical with just excellent reviews.
I'll post up some pics when she arrives.

Just picked up another Sterling Arms/Armalite AR-180 with 2-20rd and 2-40rd magazines. Friend with a local gunshop had it come in and had no idea what it was (he's young and doesn't know a lot about older gear) so I got the call to explain what/where/why of it. Asked what he was going to price it at and when he said $400 I just bought it. Fun piece of gun history.

New SDS Imports Tisas 1911 A1
So, I really like this .45 Auto, especially for the money.
Granted, I only have about 40 rounds thru her, she has performed flawlessly. But, I was a little nervous after I shot the first 20 rounds from the 7 yard line or 21 feet.
I could've sworn she was shooting left......and I also know that I haven't shot in a long time lol.....plus, I'm a righty....so...
I tried again at 5 yards or 15 feet and she was dead on.
And, this time I really beared down on her too. I'm really happy with her. She has just a little bit of creep, but again, for the money that's fine. I gotta say I really like this Tisas.
Here's an 8 round magazine from the 5 yard line and on the bottom a 10 round magazine. I think she shoots really well. Btw, I picked this up from the Sportsmansguide guide for I think $470? They used to be had under $400 before all the craziness hit. But, I'm fine with paying what I did for her.
*Edit, I forgot to add that she also ran flawlessly with a 10 and 8 round Chip MCCormick Power Mags. But, I've never ever had any problems with Chip MCCormick Power Mags.

Update
I shot just a few rounds of premium hollow point ammo
And, when I say a few I mean a few lol
I'm stingy as **** with my hollowpoints.
At any rate, I had 3 185 gr Golden Sabers, 1 Federal 230 gr HST and 3 Double Tap I think 200 gr Noslar rounds. It shot the 3 Golden Sabers and HST just fine. But, she failed to feed with one of those Hot *** Noslar rounds. Although that Noslar had the best grouping I think I'll just keep to the regular hollow points with this Tisas which is fine.
Lol, it was funny, that Double Tap ammo had a real kick to it!!

They don't make 'em like that anymore, because they literally cannot make them that way anymore. The old skilled workers have all retired or pass on so there is no one to teach any new workers all the skills needed.

Enjoy that one!

Happy 4th everyone.

After a house fire in 2011 burned up this BCM RECCE-16 I went full AK but still planned to get another AR.

Well it took me a number of years but I finally got another BCM RECCE-16 a while back. The Geissele S3G in this rifle is the same one I had in my Recce-16 that burned up. I let a friend borrow it until I recently got this. It is still going strong and has't had an issues.

Yeah if you look below the BCM you will see my Springfield Armory Loaded Operator. I still have it and hope one day I can have the frame and slide checked then rebuilt.

That's a shame. I do not have a gun safe and have worried about theft or a fire.
So I have begun giving my children the firearms I want them to have
to "spread the risk" as it were and prevent quibbling after I'm gone.
