Rust preventative ?

So I did a search on rust prevention for high carbon blades, and found a ton of information...too much information in a way.

If someone wants a good high carbon rust preventer...
1) food safe (won’t go bad)
2) dry (not oily or sticky)
What are people using these days?

The museums all around the world coat armor and blades in WAX. I asked a bladesmith who made me a custom knife what to use and he said Renaissance Wax. I doubt that it is food safe, but there must be a wax that is and that would be your best bet.

Manufacturers of knives that are pumped out will recommend motor oil.

If you want to go with wax, paraffin would be a good bet. Fairly inexpensive, easy to find, and one of its uses is to seal the tops of jars used for home canning, so it has to be food safe.
