Have you think about Cold Steel Drop forged Survivalist?
Big Piece of 52100, 8 inch blade, FFG and you can get one with thin scales.
In the pocket: Chaparral FRN, Native Chief, Police 4 K390, Pacific Salt SE, Manix 2 G10 REX45

Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

Buck sure does make some nice knives at a reasonable price point. I wonder what their margins are like.

For now, I ended up with two Moraknivs, Kansbol and Eldris. Very different from the original idea, but I think I'll see what kind of mileage I get out of them before breaking into higher-end territory.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

If you're shopping for knives in the size and price range of the higher end Moras, you might want to take a look at the Ruike Jager F118... 14C28N steel, full tang construction with milled G10 scales and a good quality ABS sheath.
