My dad used to say a $300.00 shotgun beats a $3000.00 handgun everyday of the week, old school!!
This is what I live by.

Good ol pump action shotguns. They’re just plain fun to shoot, and do everything well for me from hunting, to home defense/truck gun, to fun. Cheap to buy, cheap to shoot, stupid easy to maintain... They cover it all. I love my 12 and 20 ga. boomsticks

Not to mention not much is going to get back up after being hit with 12 Gauge 00 Buckshot. Especially in range...

Either 2 or 4 legs....

I have a Rem 870 Tactical.... The one with front and rear sights...
I’m a mossberg 500 guy, only because I had a pinned in ejector spring break on me... the 500 uses a simple screw. AND I prefer the tang safety.

I still like 870’s and most people probably won’t experience that but... I did. I’ve actually bought a few since then but that’s always in the back of my mind.

Always been a Remington guy myself. :)

I grew up shooting a model 31 12ga. that was my grandpas. Still shootable, one of the smoothest shotguns Ive ever had. That was my first introduction to shotguns, when I turned 12, that’s what I shot. I have it here with me.

I'd like to have one of those new Mossberg 590a1 I believe?
It has wood furniture and a heat shield.

I have a synthetic 590A1, if you were ever to run out of shells, it'd make a great bat / club, it's one overbuilt tank! The Retrograde 590A1 you're referring to is one beautiful shotgun!

Not sure what this whole retro this or that thing seems to be now days.

Remington still sells the shot guns and rifles in wood or synthetic stocks.

Lol, never.said ya did. Just sayin why I like it.
Heck, I guess they call it retro because of the wood. Which, is kind of silly because theres still plenty of shotguns with wood furniture, ya know?
I never really cared if they called it retro, but since you mention it, and I think about it, it does make ya wander why they refer to it as retro.

Found some 45acp JHP for $0.20 a rd the other weekend. Can't complain about that. All the 9mm around here is $15 per 100 rds.

While we're on the subject of ammo, if yall want really good stuff, check out Underwood Ammo.
They make the best personal defense and hunting ammo there is imo.
I have several different types of ammo from them.
I just recently bought some .308 in 152gr called Controlled Chaos
It's a hollow point. 308 that is just bad to the bone!
My 150 grain 300 wsm is 3300 fps

Yeah, quite expensive.
But, Underwood had a 15% off sale during Black Friday.
I believe that's the most they've ever discounted their ammo.
Btw, I love their Extreme Defender Series from Lehigh.
Left is 65gr 357 sig @2100 fps!
Right is 120gr .45Auto @1450 fps
This is some NASTY defensive ammo....

Looks like MagSafe and Glaser started a "thing" with their light weight, high speed, shot filled, fragmental rounds.

The guy that started Magsafe was Joe Zambone. He was a mad scientist type experimenting with all sorts of different ammo types and configurations before he started the epoxy & shot filled rounds we know as Magsafe. Once he even turned down hardwood dowels into projectiles that he ran right up to almost the point they self destructed in flight from centrifugal forces from the barrels rifling. He called them " dracula droppers". He tested and recreated then tested again just to see what he could do with them despite knowing they obviously would never be a saleable item. It was fun and for knowledge sake for him. That was how he was.

He created some Magsafes that were so fast they were able to burn through Kevlar vests despite not being usual AP type construction. He voluntarily stopped sale and production of them to keep them out of the hands of those who might abuse them even though they were completely legal.

He was a great guy and fun to talk to. He went way too young even though it was doing what made him happy . He was on a motorcycle world tour where he was killed in an accident in New Zealand. It was not long after he sold Magsafe company to the current owners.
