Rugby World Cup 2019

#1

Post by ChrisinHove »

This kicks off in Japan tonight and I am soooo excited!!!

USA did well by beating Canada in their warm-up game last week, but the smart money is still on New Zealand’s All Blacks to win However, South Africa are really strong at the moment, and England are no slouches, either.

Having said that, Wales & Ireland having been vying for #1 spot in the world rankings so certainly know how to win.

Scottish passion has been bringing them good wins over the past couple of years and only a fool would right off the ability of the French to turn on the flair, and let’s not overlook the uncompromising Samoan play, and the speed that the likes of Fiji and Tonga play at.

If you like contact sport where the players are there for the glory, not cash or politics, and don’t look like astronauts dressed by an overbearing mother, then maybe take a look?

Whatever, we’ve 5 weeks of great rugby ahead!

Game of the tournament, so far... All Blacks (NZ) vs South Africa - which could well be the final, too.

Nice to see another fan of the game here. Obviously I'm backing the allblacks for a threepeat but it won't be easy, England Ireland Wales South Africa and Australia are all contenders and theres a couple of other countries I wouldn't write off either.
I just watched highlights of the USA v England game. Felt a bit for the USA. It was always a big ask to beat England but I thought a couple of wrong selections and an opposition assistant coach that knows them and their game inside out didnt help their cause.

Hosts Japan beat #2 ranked Ireland! Clever tactics and utter commitment. Massive upset, and fully deserved.

A great result for Japan. A win against either Samoa or Scotland is very possible and they will be in their first world cup quarter final.

That looks more likely than not, I think. Brilliant for the hosts of the competition.

Japan now face South Africa in the quarter finals - remember Brighton 2015 in the last World Cup when they beat them?

A big shout out to the Canadian team, who were out on the streets helping with clearing up after that massive tornado, after their match was cancelled. A real credit to their country and the game.

It's fantastic that Japan are through. I'm hoping Japan goes even deeper into the tournament. Japan have always been my 2nd fave team, their team colours are the same as the club I played for.
It was really cool to see the Canadians out there helping with the clean up. Like you said, a credit to their country and the game.

ChrisinHove...see you in the semi final next weekend. I think the winner of the cup will come from this game. Hopefully it will be a titanic struggle and may the best team win.

Wow. I was hoping - but hardly expecting - England to beat the All Blacks, let alone so convincingly.

England well beaten by South Africa! Congratulations the Springboks on a well deserved, if gritty, win!
