Man, LSU ........The College Football Playoff Committee is either crooked or inept. Either way, the members need to be evaluated!!
Even, - even well before this game, LSU should've been #1
I just cant get over this lol
This will be 5 top 10 wins for LSU.....

This is how I see it, after last night.
#1. LSU
#2. Clemson
#3. Ohio State
#4. Oklahoma

Couldn't believe Utah blew their chance.
I've thought all along that the National Championship will come down to a pair of Tigers.........with the Cajun speaking Tigers prevailing ever so closely.
If the committee still has Ohio State #1, after last night then I am done. Lol, I'll quit ranting.

Well I know very little about college football or basketball either for that matter. But for years I've noticed that LSU and Alabama always seem to be in the hunt for the National Championship.

I also find it extremely strange that Alabama's coach Nick Saban couldn't do anything at all with the Miami Dolfins in the NFL but yet he's considered one of the greatest college coaches of all time I'm told.

But he's not the only disappointment from the college ranks to flop in the NFL pro ranks. I remember Steve Spurrier had an abysmal time with the Washington Redskins>> but again he was a great college coach.

It is rather strange that those two colleges LSU and Alabama always seem to be in the spotlight>> and I remember that all the way back to the Bear Bryant days as well.

JD, I think if you understood how college football works, that you wouldn't find Alabama's and LSU's success so strange. You're also ignoring the decade between Gene Stallings and Nick Saban when Bama had limited success. Before '03 under Saban, LSU hadn't won a national title since '58. LSU won another title in '07 under Miles. After their '07 and '11 SEC titles LSU fizzled. Ogeron started this season on the hot seat there. LSU has been very good, but not on Bama'a level.

Also, if you understood the major differences between the college and the pro games, then I think you wouldn't find it so odd that very successful college coaches often struggle to win in the NFL.

Yeah, I often wander how Belichick would do in College.
I imagine he would do well, but how well?
We shall probably never know.
HBO did a really good special on Saban and Belichick.
The two have been big buddies for decades.

However, as for Saban, I can see why he didn't have huge success in the NFL, like he has had in College.
Saban is really very assertive take charge ( all coaches are ) but, what I mean to say is that I think Saban had a hard time dealing with the NFL player in general. You could tell that Belichick was more laid back, and I think you would have to be to a certain degree to manage a pro.

Yeah you guys make some good points. Because I've seen some highly celebrated college coaches end up hitting the wall in the pro ranks for whatever reason. I remember when that one college football coach ( Bobby Petrino) took over the Atlanta Falcons job to only bail out and go back to coaching Arkansas. That one really baffled me to no end  The College and Pro football organizations are as different as apples and oranges in many ways. And Nick Saban was nothing but a dud with the Miami Dolfins. Glad he's doing good with the Crimson Tide because he was a borderline disgrace in the NFL.

It's also amazed me how some of these athletes are awesome superstars in college but when many of them hit the pro ranks they tend to fold in many cases unfortunately,. My memory of Brian Bosworth for instance is still fresh in my mind :( His stardom at OU at the time was off the charts and unfortunately he ended up being a horrible draft bust in the NFL >> maybe the biggest of all time. Not to mention other super college athletes like Jarvis Redwine, Eddie Payton ( Walter's Brother), David Carr( Derek's Brother), Kellen Winslow Jr., And the KC Chiefs coach Eric Bieniemy were all considered superstars in college but in the pro ranks most of them become horrible disappointments or at best were barely average when it was all said and done. That has baffled me for many years.

Other than KU we really don't have any college teams in our area that have done anything really noteworthy on a national level. KU has been a great basketball program for decades. My mother worked there in the 50s when Wilt Chamberlain played for them.

But I've got a lot of buddies who are obsessed with College football and basketball. I just like the NFL and NBA much better myself. But that's just my take on it.

As for the College Playoffs, I'm sticking to my guns
1. L.S.U. vs 4. Oklanhoma = L.S.U.
2. Ohio State 3. Clemson = Clemson
The National Championship #1 L.S.U. vs #3 Clemson = L.S.U.
The Natty, L.S.U. vs Clemson will be a barn burner. The 2 best Quarterbacks in the Country, and 2 really best teams overall. I give the Coaching edge to Clemson, but overall team talent to L.S.U.
L.S.U. will win ever so slightly imo.

Flashbacks of Joe Montana on that last Clemson drive...
Very fitting that the National Championship will come.down to the 2 best Quarterbacks in all College football.
I still say LSU will barely win, but wouldnt be surprised at all if Trevor Lawrence gives Clemson their 4th and 2nd in a row National Championship.
Dont ever underestimate just how good Trevor Lawrence is...

Just 2 opinions from the officiating last night.
The targeting call was a good call. Can't lead with your helmet no matter.
That was a fumble in my opinion.

Ditto.

I watched the replays on the incompletion/fumble business several times and couldn't see enough there to overrule the call on the field.

That was definitely a head down, helmet to helmet contact, though.

That was a heck of a game, either way. And it could easily have gone either way.

I guess the Tigers are going to win the national championship, for sure, now.

I am glad Clemson won, but Ohio got short changed on that fumble recovery and touch down. Watching the clips over and over it is very clear the receiver had possession and the ball was stripped. Bad call refs.

I did agree with the targeting and personal foul against the kicker. I saw two face masks that went uncalled against Ohio, so I guess it evened out.

Ordinarily when a defending champion is undefeated, you expect them to be ranked number one out of simple respect.

LSU made a grand statement the other night though concerning their number one rating.

But... it was just Oklahoma. Several other teams might have made a better showing.

In retrospect I would have liked to see LSU and Ohio State play for the right to meet the defending champ.

However, if Clemson beats LSU now, that will be an impressive back to back championship run.

Ya know guys, as good as L.S.U. is, and they have the best offense I've EVER seen in my 48 years of life. It's still very possible Clemson can win. They just really, really, need the right game plan, and......play a perfect game pretty much. Imo, Trevor Lawrence will be the real factor. He will absolutely have to score to keep up with L.S.U. I believe he can, but I also believe L.S.U. will prevail.
