The Collected Works of Victorinox. There is still one I want: the Traveller.

Impressive. Why two identical Swiss Tools, besides from the third one on top?

I realized I forgot that I too own a sharpener pen, just like the one on your picture.

Thanks! Mainly because I carry one and the other lives in a Maxpedition toolkit. But one is normal, the other has the "butter knife".
I also have a second Explorer Plus, because they are not made any more.
These models are my favorites, must have backups! :cheap-sunglasses

So, here we are:
20210820_110702_copy_1651x1238.jpg
20210820_110653_copy_1651x1238.jpg

Comparison of blade lengths ;)
20210820_110926_copy_1651x1238.jpg
20210820_110918_copy_1651x1238.jpg

I know I once owned another mid-size, I think it was a Wenger. It was quite loaded with tools. It is MIA. Shame...

The latest addition is the mid-size one with black finger grooves, afaik a former Wenger named Evo Grip. Ergos are very good on this one! I don't see big differences in the quality of the tools except for the scissors. I must say that the Evo Grip's scissors are two steps above the scissors of original Victorinox scissors. Here's why:

20210820_113138_copy_1651x1238.jpg
20210820_113338_copy_1030x772.jpg

Do you see the differences? ;) There are three: The spring is the most obvious. Quite flimsy on the original V, super robust on the W. Secondly, the W's scissors have a lead. Maybe you spot it if you zoom in (I know, pic's too dark), right below the pivot screw. Lastly, (Evil D, are you receiving?) the cutting edges of the W's scissors are serrated! :nerd They cut much better than the V's scissors. Truly superior!

I think I'm good with this little collection. No further additions planned.

Well.....

Not only was I gifted another mid-size Wenger shortly before Christmas. I got another Victorinox today, a Ranger Grip 78. Impulse order....
SmartSelect_20220212-111240_Chrome.jpg
It's big. It's illegal to carry here in Germany (one-handed opening plus locking blade). It's therefore irrational. It's got a cool button unlock, you need to push the imbedded Victorinox brandmark to do it.

I love it! :winking-tongue

I think I forgot to mention earlier that I also own a Victorinox pen-style sharpener. So we are at 9 Victorinox tools/knives now. Will I stop adding more? I don't think I can promise this anymore...

I only have this One Hand Trekker and a Buck Wenger so my collection is very meager. I really like the SAK model you have posted. I may have to get one sometime , it is very appealing. Dan

the one hand trekker gets really good reviews. i'm sure it deserves them, even though i've never had one. i went with the rangergrip instead because the tools are a little bigger, i wanted to see how i liked the grip, and because the logo button logo is just so nifty that i couldn't resist. the rangergrip is a little bigger than i expected. it's maybe just a tad bigger than a mora companion and the handle really reminds of the mora as well.

it's a great knife, but there's probably no reason to carry one when you have the trekker, unless you just need it because it's different and awesome. ;)

The big plus for me the main blade liner lock is a lefty . You are probably right as far as size . I throw mine in glove box in the Polaris . Trekker has helped me more than once making a trip to garage needing a tool for a quick fix . Thank you ! Dan

Just ordered these from DLT. Has anyone used them before? Looks like a nice little "just in case" backup.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Got the fire ant set in.

I like it! I rarely use my corkscrew, and it’s easy enough to pop this guy out if I do need to open a bottle of wine.

The orange is tinder, and the green is the Ferro rod. The saw is supposedly a great striker - I think the spine is crisp enough.

the saw is definitely a great striker for ferro rods. i've used mine this way on all my saks. just be careful how you put pressure on it so you don't close it on yourself.

Anyone have/use the new Swiss Tool pocket clips?

I'm torn on the idea. Years ago it's all I wanted, because I grew to dislike belt sheaths. Now I've gotten so used to the belt sheath and I carry other stuff in my pockets, I'm not sure I can make the clip work. I'm gonna get a couple just in case. It would be a great addition if you only carried a Spirit.

I still have my black Camper from 1990 with leather sheath. Bought it in Jackson Hole WY while on a 6 week geology field camp trip.
It will still shave arm hair and the saw is top notch.
My biggest reason I moved on from it was the non locking blades. Once bitten, twice shy. That's when I bought a Delica 2 (since lost) and replaced it with a Delica 3.

Just got a new serrated spartan. Had one and lost it. My favorite plastic swiss army knife.

A few of my favorites. :)

A three layer, Swiss Army Yeoman. It sure is a shame these were discontinued way back when. I still find it to be the most useful EDC SAK ever made.

A walnut Huntsman that I carry when I go camping/hiking.

And a couple Classics that the wife and I keep on our keychains.

Image

I also have a couple of Pioneer X's that I keep in my bike bags, a Victorinox Rescue Tool that lives in my wife's car, and several Classics of all different designs floating around all over the place.

My three most used: Alix Pioneer, Alox Mini-champ, and Executive.

*Oops, I hadn't noticed that it looks like my Mini-champ is being inappropriate with my Pioneer.

Lost my 2017 green alox Cadet in its Hitch and Timber slip. I'm defeated. 5 years of memories with that thing. No idea where it could be. It fell out of my slacks' pocket.
