(No pics from me...)

Today I received a new companion, a red Outrider. Saw it for a very good price two days ago, and since I was thinking of getting a larger SAK with scissors (I really consider those a "killer application" over all MTs or SAKs without) for some months now, I could not resist. It's got a locking blade, a saw, and a Philips driver, plus tweezers & tooth pick, too. I'm very pleased, especially since I paid less that 40€! :)

Has anyone ordered some aftermarket scales for their SAK?

I usually like the classic red plastic, but I found an old climber model in my parent's barn whose scales were melted by brake fluid. I'd like to get the knife cleaned up and re-scaled, and am thinking of ordering these guys.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

No...but the ones you linked to look pretty cool. If you go through with it, I hope they don't disappoint.

I have several of the 58mm SAKs, and three of them are in dire need of scales. What really sucks is that the Micarta scales cost more than a new Classic SD or Rally! They're only nearly the cost of a new Rambler.

Standard silver, so the color isn't anything special...but it is an Electrician.

Nice. I've always liked the look of the smaller wharncliffe blade on the Electrician.

The Electrician arrived today. Its smaller blade is more akin to a sheepsfoot than a Wharncliffe. It's a pretty cool piece. Maybe one day I'll find a few in different colors!

One-hand opening looks difficult, if not impossible. I think notching the liner and scale around the Spydie hole might have been a good idea. However, I like seeing new and different knife designs and ideas, and this one is definitely both. It got me to thinking that a Spyderco/Victorinox collaboration could result in something very cool!

Yep. In person the orange is a lot more brighter, looks a bit subdued/burnt in my picture but that is just due to light & angle of shooting.

Haven't checked this thread out in a while. But as I said before I have a ton of respect for Victorinox. I even have two of their backpacks and one of their wallets that I've had for over ten years now.

Sure their hardware i.e. knives and other tools are their flagship products but it seems like everything with their name on it is premium quality in most cases. I also have two of their fanny packs and I have not ever found another fanny pack that is as function as the Victorinox products are.

The blade steel in their knives could be improved to keep up with the times. But their knife and tool designs are all great as far as I can tell. It doesn't surprise me that this thread has had the long life as it has. And as of yet I've not found any multi-tool I like nearly as good as I do my Victorinox Swiss Tool and Swiss Tool X.
