I plan on doing my first SAK mod this weekend. It will be a 58mm size with me adding the tools/layers i want. Will be using factory scales. If all goes well might mod a few 58mm models. Will update again with pictures
Best of luck with that. The 58mm models are a lot harder to work on than the larger ones.

Here is my 58mm mod, basically I wanted a less fat Minichamp. I call it the Diet Minichamp :) Built from a Signature, Jetsetter, and Cavalier.
I used 1/16 brass rod as a replacement for the stock 1.5mm brass rod (close enough) and likewise a 1/16 drill bit to drill them out.
Creating a jig out of a scrap block of wood is essential or you will hate yourself trying to circumcise a mosquito with all these tiny parts lol.
Having a rivet setter is also helpful.
Also tape it closed with painters tape when you are drilling the pins out bc everything will go flying.

After you put the collars on one side put some tape over that side so when you flip it to add collars to the other side they dont fall off

This is my Diet Minichamp. I wanted all the thin tools on one side so thats why the nail nicks dont perfectly line up. Oh well works for me. I really want to do some more mods but next time with Alox scales. Those are actually easier because you don't have to mess with collars.

Very cool. Do you have both file types on there? The SD and nailcleaner versions?

I've seen slipjoint modders use one of those replaceable double sided boxcutter blades, and slide it between the liner scales and the blade/tool, to cut the brass pins. I think they tap it with a small hammer to 'baton' through the pins. Obviously with the knife held in a hobby vice or something similar.

Do you think this would be possible with the SAK, as an alternative to drilling out the pins?

Finally arrived. Gonna carry it around for a bit before I decide if and what mods I’ll do.

Awesome!
Thnx, it’s really nice. A lot lighter than I thought it would be. Guess I’m used to my traditionals, GEC’s and such. Feels good and solid though. I’ve already used the canopener as a scraper, doubt I’ll ever need it to open a can but who knows? My package opener mod would weaken it for that so I’m not sure yet. The other mod in mind is turning the spear into a sheepsfoot or coping but the belly starts pretty far back so if I do, I’ll likey have to regrind it so the edge ends up straighter. Wouldn’t have to be perfectly straight for my needs though.
How well can I expect the Ukrainian design to hold up? I tend to be pretty rough on my tools.

I've been wanting a Swiss Bianco Bushcrafter for a few years now. Maybe I'll have to take a play out of Spydergirl88's playbook and find a farmer to trim down, seriously impressive work! A such a clean workbench too.

What size pins on the 93mm? I've seen people go to screw construction on the alox models. Has anyone ever tried that out?

Edit: Can the alox scales by anodized?

The Alox scales are aluminum so they can be anodized very well. That is how they get so many unique colors! :D

Also, just found this packed away in a box! It was a gift from a relative when I was a kid.

It's a collaboration between Victorinox and Cross. Just a basic SAK Classic and a matching SAK red Cross ballpoint pen. Even as a kid, I appreciated the pristinely packaged and matching gift set enough that I just left it brand new! :D

I was just gifted a Vic Yeoman, a beautiful 3 layer with a Mag Glass/Philips Head layer. I'll get some pics and post them. It carries like a Climber but has the versatility of the Explorer.
