iPhone cases

Postby Cao87 » Wed Jun 19, 2019 4:33 pm

Hey I am looking for a tough but thin iPhone case
The one I have is the otterbox symmetry which it’s been great but the back of it is smooth and It has slipped out of my hands a few times so I got a pop socket which is fine but I sticks out to much and gets caught on my pocket sometimes. So... is there such a case out there that is thin and grippy and that is tough.
I was looking at the mous (without the e) brand and it uses some kind of gel shock thingy but it expensive any who your help would be much appreciated.

I don't have an iPhone, I have an Android, but they may make them for iPhones too. The label on my case says "supcase." There are two cases on the phone. A thinner yet tough inner case, and a large tough outer case.

If you went with just the inner case I am sure that your phone would be safe. Check them out, SUPCASE.

For seven years I carried an iPhone 4 in a holster case combo shell clipped to my belt. When I upgraded to an iPhone 8, I promptly bought another one. The clip can be oriented vertically, horizontally or four other angles in between. There is the nerd factor, but I can't imagine carrying a cell phone any other way.

It also has a kickstand I rarely used that will let the phone stand up on a surface vertically or horizontally. Some people may find that handy.

My phone a couple of weeks ago after falling screen down on rough pavers from about six feet.

A lot to be said for a decent phone case. ;)

The Magpul "Field" case sounds just like what you're looking for. I've had them on all of my iphones over the years. Very rugged for being so thin and the material is somehow both very grippy for handling and smooth to allow for sliding in and out of pockets easily. They're great cases, I recommend them to anyone who asks me.. I've converted my whole family haha. Relatively inexpensive too, compared with the competition.. Also pretty cool that it's manufactured in the US by a well-known firearms accessories company. They seem to hold up really well too.. I've had the same case on my phone for three years now, still good as new.

You may be able to find them a little cheaper on amazon, but here's the link to the manufacturer's site.

..well, that escalated quickly..

Get a Lifeproof phone case, not bulky for what they are. They are water proof and have great impact resistance. I’ve had mine for years and when I take the phone out it still looks brand new. Plus built in screen protector.

I can’t recommend them enough.

Supcase Unicorn Beetle, dumbest name for a phone case possible but they were drop tested from 20 feet onto concrete and they're usually about $18 on Amazon.

My work phone has an Otterbox Defender. I hate it. It's big. It's bulky. The belt clip is clunky. But... right after I first got the phone I got a call from my office. I was busy and shouldn't have taken the call, but I did. And that distracted me even more. I put the phone back into he belt clip. Or did I? It wasn't snapped in all the way, and it popped out. My new iPhone cartwheeled into the hoistway in front of me. I could hear it crashing into beams and walls before it crashed into the concrete sixteen stories below.

I was seriously bummed. I went down and recovered my phone, and to my astonishment, it was in perfect condition. That ugly Otterbox did it's job.

With that said, the Otterbox is too awful for my personal phone. I use a Speck. It's thin, not too slippery, and seems to protect my phone just fine. The case cracks after about two years around the lightning port, but since it's guaranteed for life, they'll send you out a replacement. I'd buy another.

Have an iPhone 8. For the first year or so I used a Speck 2-part case that was nice & thin, but it started to fail. Recently I found out that Uline will send along a free gift with most orders by request, and we buy from Uline a lot for work.

So now I have an Otterbox Commuter that I'm very, very happy with. Like the speck but made better, plus it has a charging port cover. This is great, because I carry my phone in my left front pocket and previously my charging port had gotten so full of crud I had to take it in to have it serviced.

In addition to the above brands, Nomad makes a series of high quality cases for iPhones and other Apple products. When they have sales the deals are very good. I give them a strong recommendation. https://nomadgoods.com/

Rokform make great cases. Some have magnets in the back that are actually incredibly useful.

My work iPad has one of these. It really is very good, although the screen cover is a little marked after a couple of years of everyday use.

I have never found a case that was tough enough or thin enough at the same time.
