Superheroes

#1

Post by Crux »

I will say up front that this is a Spyderco Forum inspired thread because before that I could have cared less.

Like most here I've already seen a bunch "Superhero" movies (which is apparently a very analy specific genre) over the years, but as the inquisitive bastard I am I decided to try to sort them out. That means getting a spreadsheet of the movies and watching them again even if I've already seen them. That has been painful in some respects as many of them suck but I am determined to do this mostly because there's no new Para 3 out there to look forward to.

Some of those movies are indeed pretty bad. Some are good entertainment. I liked the old Swamp Thing movie, mainly because of Adrienne Barbeau :) I am about to watch the first episode of the new TV series. I hope it is good.

The producers and directors of Captain America need to be taken out and shot, but first have boiling oil poured over them. The first movie was good. But after that, Cap was no longer Cap and America no longer America.

I've just now, in the last few months started watching the Avenger movies. However, I did see the first Thor movie when it came out, although not at the theater.
That being said, I've enjoyed everyone I've saw.
The ones I've seen besides the first Thor, are Infinity War, End Game, Black Panther and Thor Ragnorak.
Black Panther was a really good flick, Ragnorak was really good and funny. I know there are prolly others that I haven't seen, but I've enjoyed what I've seen thus far.
Thanks for the spread sheet!
Oh! Almost forgot, and Dr.Strange! Very good!!

I've been impressed with the Marvel movie franchise. Hope they can keep it up.

DC's movies and tv shows seem to have terrible storylines or maybe just poor execution for some reason.

I thought Smallville was the best product DC put out, and that was just a Buffy clone.

Oddly enough Krypton seems to be the most entertaining of the current DC tv shows.

Oh, and Marvel's Agents of Shield has really done a turn around from the first year or two. Amazing storylines the last few years.

I thought Captain Marvel was pretty good too. I grew up with the comic books so it's interesting to see how Hollywood interprets Stan's ideas.

The only DC movie I liked was Wonder Woman, which IMO was very nicely done.

The Marvel franchise is definitely superior to DC.

My favorite Marvel movie is Logan.

The Black Panther was good, but I wasn't as impressed as I had expected to be. When "everybody" keeps repeating that it's "the best superhero movie of all time," it sets up a certain level of expectation that it failed to meet (for me).

I used to keep up with all the Marvel Iniverse movies, but I haven't kept up in recent years, only catching one here and there.

When I was a kid, I used to buy and read everything Marvel put out, from the late '60s until around 1980 or so. It's interesting that nowadays, "everybody" seems to be into superheroes. When I was a kid, I mostly kept it to myself for fear of being labeled a comic book nerd. Nowadays it's considered cool to be a nerd, though I'm certain that most Marvel movie fans probably only know the characters through the movies; I'm betting very few ever read the comics.

I don't watch many superhero movies, none of the new ones interest me at all.

The old Spiderman and Superman movies and Batman movies were OK, the old ones being OLD.

This whole mass superhero movie and TV shows they are currently doing doesn't even make it on my radar.

Well Jim, I know what ya mean.
But......if ya can, watch Dr. Strange sometime.
I think you might enjoy that one.

Marvel definitely has it over DC Superhero wise, but Gal Gadot is a perfect fit for Wonder Woman. I grew up when Linda Carter was on prime time as Wonder Woman and I didn't think they could top her, but they certainly did IMO.

Lol, I just saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
It's now my favorite. Awesome movie.
Now, I must see part 1 lol.

p.s.
When I first saw Drax, I thought man, he reminds me of Mr.Hinx, from Specter. And, sure enough it is Dave Bautista.
Awesome movie...

Movies that defy the laws of physics do not appeal to me, though the CGI is undeniably awesome. Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy are very funny, which is their saving grace. But maybe some of you who are fans can help me.

During WWII, superheroes helped us defeat the axis powers. After 9/11, superheroes turned on each other, Captain America was killed and muslim superheroes were added. Am I the only one who sees a problem here?

I don't like that the superheroes are scattering in different directions with End Game now here and gone. It just doesn't feel right.

I don't see a problem with a Muslim superhero, but I do all of the SJW superheros, and I'll not be seeing any more of these movies due to that.
