I can certainly echo that same sentiment because I sure had a lot of military in my family in the past 100 years especially. Until you talk to some of these guys and gals that have literally been in these war zones you really can't imagine the price that many of them have to pay to keep this country a decent place to live.

And this Memorial Day is a great day of relaxation and reflection.

On this 50th Memorial Day since I survived the Vietnam War, I want to name some of my brothers-in-arms who did not.

Francisco Tamayo, Dave Bolton, Benny Clayton, John Dugan, Bill Elbracht, Harry Harrison, Bernard Hodges, Bill Kuhnke, Ed Zager, Larry Budde, and Norm Singer.

I regret I cannot name those Vietnamese Rangers with whom I served who paid the highest price.

I’ve now lived half a century longer on this planet than them. This disparity brings the tragedy of war home to me in yet another way.

I’m memory of my friend Richard Jenks, WO1 who died in Viet Nam fifty-two years ago.
