Are desiccant bags necessary?

Hello I have a few S30V fixed blades that are in a plastic toolbox in their kydex sheaths they will be staying in there for a year. They have been wiped with Marine tuff glide and the box is in a dry place in my house though I’m wandering if desiccant bags will be needed too? Thanks everyone.

I don't know if they are necessary but they're cheap so why not.

I use them (spaced out on each row) in my knife storage rolls and on the inside of my cedar lined cabinet where I keep most of my boxed Spydercos! Probably overkill as I live in a dry coastal area of southern California ...but like the gentleman said...they're cheap!

I use a renewable plug in type desiccant in my gun safe and knife drawers.

Take a stroll through your local department store shoe section and you'll find a slew of silica gel packs in the boxes, if not all over the floor. I keep one in each of my knife boxes along with the knives when I'm not using them.

Never used them and most my fixed blades are carbon tool steels. Even living where its warm and wet I've never had a knife rust sitting in a drawer. I store every FB in its sheath, whether leather or kydex. Never wipe them down with oils either...I just make sure they're clean and dry any time I put them away.
