I paid $80 for the Esee 3HM I just bought our youth pastor, I thought it was a pretty good deal for such a great knife, I’ll probably buy me one, that or either the Camp Lore JG3.Evil D wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 11:16 amI like ESEE knives but I feel like some of them are a little over priced for what they are. Still, they do 1095 pretty well and make very nice/practically indestructible knives. Some of their grinds could stand to be a bit thinner though. Their coating is so-so effective, I'd like it more if it wasn't so dang rough.
I got my new camping & hiking knife today

Got to handle the JG3 last weekend, very nice little fixed blade!

Looks nice. Like that negative blade angle.
I've really been into the looks of the CR2.5

The JG3 does look really nice. I could see that or their light machete being my next ESEE purchase.
They do seem a little pricey for such a basic steel, but they come with perfectly executed sheaths, contoured micarta scales, the best warranty on the market, and made in the USA.

Still a few rough spots near the tip, but good enough for me. Spine is nice and sharp, throws sparks well now. Now I just need to put a better edge on it.

I'm looking forward to seeing how thin you push the edge

I thought I was getting wide levels until I tried one of his edges. He's very good with a bench stone

Finally finished the stripping video:

I may make a video showing me reprofiling the knife.
Definitely making another field test video when I'm done with all my mods. It's been fun.

Picked this up for my father in law today, I actually really like it and it’s a little smaller then the Junction. I might have to get one for myself.

I like everything about that design save for the deep sharpening choil. If BM wasn't so fond of them I'd buy a lot more of their knives.
Teated out the thinner edge a bit today. Carves a **** of a lot better, bites deeper on a chop, and still holds up to splitting 3-5" chunks of wood. Going to go a bit thinner before I call it done.
