A good sub hilt?

#1

Post by supracor »

The title says it all.

It's been a long time since I've been looking for a nice sub hilt at a reasonable price; the Cold Steel Black Bear Classic was really what was right for me, but it's disco'ed.
I looked at the Boker sub hilt, but I do not love the words Made in Asia.

some advice?

What's wrong with the Vallotton? :)

I already have the vallotton and the lil :)

When I ask of subhilts, of course I speak of fixed blades, more or less inspired at the Loveless one.

Oh, i see. I have precious little knowledge of fixed blade knives as they fail to intrigue me the way folders do. Have you looked at japaneseknives.com?

Do you mean japaneseknifedirect.com?
I have already bought a saji and an itou from there; it's a great place to buy japanese custom knives, but it's not what I'm looking for now.
At the moment I'm running out of money, so I was looking for something more affordable ;)
I have found some nice Entrek fighting knives, but i truly don't know what i have to expect from them.

Check out cold steel OSS sub hilt it’s very affordable, I’ve wanted this one for a while now. Would like to get a custom sheath made from Mr Sastre if I really like the feel of the knife. James Keating’s sub hilt is my most comfortable fixed blade but is pricey out there on the bay.

I had thought about buying an OSS and making it redo the handle and the sheath, but I don't know anyone around here who do these jobs :(

Yeah good luck finding a decent subhilt made anywhere but Asia that isn't custom. I know a great maker selling one. Really nice with ironwood. I only say this so someone else buys it before i can't help myself anymore.

Forgot to mention the maker.

Saw it
It's perfect.
But a little beyond my budget :o
Moreover, I would have to pay a third of the amount in taxes when it would arrive, and I did not count the transport.

Didn't know you weren't from the USA. I too want a good subhilt at a decent price. It's just not something that's readily available.
