Hultafors Knives = Mora Like

They are a Swedish brand but presumably based on the claims, use a Japanese-made steel and form it into blades. They come in carbon and stainless. Here is the stainless.

Craftsman Model.

Tell me what you think of it.

Does that look like a good knife to use for everyday use, food preparation, cleaning, butchering, and processing fish and game and other meats and vegetables, wood-cutting, bushcraft, and other applications?

Looks almost identical to Mora, and Hultafors make excellent axes so i think it's good. That said i would go for the Mora, being a conservative old geezer, growing up with them always around :)

I believe that the Hultafors uses SK5. It is very similar to a Mora 511. Hultafors has a full line of trade knives just like Mora. Hultafors makes a knife with a file on the side called a plumbers knife. The file is used for deburring pipes but I have wondered if it would be handy for bushcraft stuff too. Marttiini also makes similar knives in a similar style. I have a Husqvarna axe that is a rebranded Hultafors and I like it.

I have the Heavy Duty ... cheap, effective, cheap, sharp, cheap, and a little crude.

Excellent value for money, comfortable in hand, very useful (more as a sharp pry tool as the stock and edge are so thick on this one).

My hultaforst gift from a great friend. Blue is the craftsman model in stainless steel (I think aus8) and the green model with carbon steel blade (I think sk5) this has a hardness test mark.

Hultafors of Sweden and Marttiini of Finland, both make such excellent knives and tools, along with Mora. The Japanese and Scandinavians are blade and tool makers extraordinaire.

It seems the Hultafors knives are made in Taiwan. They should be good knives.

They are very good knives. The German stainless steel assembled in Taiwan is great and the handle and sheath are also.

I'd really like to see Spyderco make something like this in their Byrd line, but with FFG fully Spyderedged blades. Maybe a couple different blade lengths. I'd really like a 6" length.
