What is the Isle of man like as a visitation/tourist spot? I'd like views from you who have been there.

Like a clock stopped in the 1950s on a wet Wednesday afternoon. :DSpyderEdgeForever wrote:What is the Isle of man like as a visitation/tourist spot? I'd like views from you who have been there.
Actually, quite pretty in an old-fashioned type of way....But definitely a quiet time rather than a wild time.
Warhammer 40000 is- basically- Lord Of The Rings on a cocktail of every drug known to man and genuine lunar dust, stuck in a blender with Alien, Mechwarrior, Dune, Starship Troopers, Fahrenheit 451 and Star Wars, bathed in blood, turned up to eleventy billion, set on fire, and catapulted off into space screaming "WAAAGH!" and waving a chainsaw sword- without the happy ending.

As Guy Martin said: “Well, everything in the world has been bloody sanitised with health and safety, hasn’t it. There isn’t really anything left in the world where you can go out and actually kill yourself. I like being in control of my own destiny, really. You can go out racing on your bike, make one little mistake, and that’s it: you’re dead. I love all that. Being so near yet so far.“

I watch and DVR every year. It's on my bucket list to attend one of these days

Re: Isle of Man TT
I watch when I can (no TV here). Sometimes I buy the DVD for a year’s competition. Having been a biker I appreciate the skill and bravery these guys display. I’d like to imagine I could do that, but I couldn’t. My last road bike ride up Boulder Canyon to Nederland and back was a fine display of those biker idiots reviled and cursed by most sane drivers. I was lucky and survived. But, I still remember it. I’d love to spend the week there. Maybe someday.

An alternative is the Classic TT - same sort of stuff but on classic racers, late summer, a bit more laid back. Hoping to get to these in 2019.
