I saw a post where Spark mentioned they were getting hit pretty hard last week. It looks like they got knocked out of commission.

They've been up and down a lot the past couple days. Earlier all I could get was a database error. A few minutes ago vBulletin had a message that said something like "diagosing errors". Now it says "We're making progress. Thanks for your continued patience."

The forum has been degrading for a long time, maybe 3 or 4 months. It would give database errors occasionally during the week, then over the past month it would give database errors almost every night, then the past few days database errors randomly throughout the day. There were threads about this in the tech support forum and the site owner said that the site was under some attacks last week. They said they were working on the problem and it required fixing one more than one thing.

I mostly surf the knife makers forum, sheaths and such, and the knife makers for sale forum.
I always enjoy seeing what everybody else is building since I enjoy making knives myself.

Man, Im just hoping that they are really taking the time to make things right.
You know that has to be a very profitable forum.
Hopefully they'll right the ship....

If it's DDoS, very difficult to defend against. They even engaged Cloudflare.

Question is: who's attacking them and why?

Thanx for the 411.
And I have no idea as to whom the attacks are coming from.
Maybe someone else will have that info...

The site was back up tonight, a little after midnight eastern time. I checked and got on about 12:45. I hit a few subforums and checked the timestamps. The site was down about 26 hours total. About 10 minutes after I got on it was back to database errors.
