No way! don't mess with success... I'd leave the Glesser family in charge of Spyderco. Not saying I wouldn't have any aspirations in knife making, but they wouldn't involve buying a current company. Especially not Spyderco.

Yeah, even after tax the remaining balance from 1.3 billion is a mind boggling amount of money... I'd think that after setting up trusts to take care of my close friends and family, the remainder would go to charity, though exactly what causes would take some serious thought.

Let's see...

Hire a lawyer and a first rate CPA to organize everything...will, investments, donations, etc...

Build my Ex and my daughter a new home with attached kennel and fully fenced yard. (they raise Bernese Mountain Dogs)

Take care of some friends who are in need....mortgages, medical bills, etc...

Donate to a couple of deserving Veterans charities and cancer research.

Donate some to have "shop" classes put back into local schools.....not everybody is cut out for college.

Put some local scholarships together for both college and apprenticeship programs...

Travel with my daughter so she can see the beauty and history of our great nation.

After the above....Who knows, probably be the same guy I am now, I hope.

Well, I can't say first thing I'd do but I would certainly visit the Spyderco factory, and if Sal would agree to it I would absolutely commission my own sprint and sell them to forum members. I would probably do quite a lot of that actually, since if I had a billion dollars I wouldn't really care if they didn't sell right away or if I lost a few bucks on each knife, I would just love to be able to pick a combo and even get input from the forum and make some grail knives a reality. I would also surely have some custom knives made, though I have no idea who I'd go with. I would likely also take a shot at making my own customs. I would be looking for a way to make a reasonable living despite having all that money.

1.3 Billon converts to approximately 2 gazillion Canadian, I have know idea what I would do with that much money. I might possibly retire though so I had some time to think about it.

Question: Do you all consider entering a raffle or sweepstakes where you do not have to pay or wager any actual money to be different than gambling where you purchase a lottery ticket or go to a casino and play casino games of chance and play slot machines, or are they the same basic thing, even though in the former you are not wagering money?

Would only clear like 420 Million after all of the taxes etc.

I have no idea what I would do with it personally, other than a really nice house in a really nice area, for the rest, well sock it away.

I am happy with my Jeep SUV so no real need to buy another car.

And I am not married and don't plan on that changing ever under any condition. ;)

Would Will whatever was left etc to Charity like a few Children's Hospitals that I have in mind.

FWIW I said there were no winners in the last Jackpot....well I was wrong I checked my $2.00 Ticket and I had the Powerball # 13....which means my ticket is now worth $4.00....a far stretch from 1.3 billion.....but I think I'll let the whole amount ride on this weeks drawing by re-investing.....you never know......Doc:)

I'd pay off everything so my wife could retire.

For myself? Honestly, I'd do exactly the same things I'm going to do anyway. I'm one of those incredibly lucky people who've found a career that I'll keep doing even if I win the lottery. Give me a billion dollars and tomorrow I'll show up at the school and teach, same as today.

Hey Doc, just to let you know, the Playboy mansion is for sale, only downside is that you have to house share with Mr. Heffner until he kicks the bucket, hope you'll send me an invite so I can take care of the bunny hutch for you :p :D

Seriously though, you'd probably be better off putting your $4 on a horse or roulette in a Casino, the odds are much better.
Currently enjoying Spyderco's in - S30V, VG10, Super Blue, Cruwear x4, CTS XHP, S110V x2, M4 x3, S35VN, CTS 204P x2, S90V, HAP 40, K390, RWL34, MAXAMET, ZDP 189, REX 45

Since the last one didn't hit, they estimate in the upper $800 millions for the winner now.

I think it'd be nice to get a run of Carbon Fiber/CPM-10V Militaries and maybe Yojimbos and sell them at a reasonable price and try not to let flippers get any. :)

I think the complete answer would be "anything you want for as long as the money lasts".
