I just wanted to brag about the wonderful morning I had today. :)

There is a Spyderco tucked in my waistband and two more stashed on the kayak if that counts for anything. haha

Nice. It's a shame you can't train one of those. You'd never have to paddle anywhere ever again.

Holy moly Lance, that is one big fish, what flavor is it? It looks like a red snapper but I've never seen one that big.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

Hey Dan, yes, that is a Cubera Snapper. They get pretty big. Same fish as in my profile pic. Hard to catch them on lures and I usually only get a few of these big guys a year. :)

Nice fish, I have to wonder if you get more excited about catching one of those or getting to use your knives.

You know its funny, I was actually thinking about something similar the other day. I was thinking about how nice it is to be a knife nut when you come in all tired and still have a bunch of fish cleaning to do. That probably seems like work to normal people. haha. Seriously, its kind of cool to be able to look at the least glamorous part of my hobby and still feel passion for it because it so conveniently overlaps with another hobby.

Having said all that, I'll take the thrill of catching em over the "thrill" of cleaning em any day!! :D

Nice fish. My question is, are fish that big good to eat, or are the smaller ones better?

Hey Doc, the little ones are always delicious. These bigger ones are usually good too but on occasion can be a bit tough. Luckily this one was on the tender and delicious side.

If you had to could you gut, fillet, and process a fish like that with a Spyderco Atlantic Salt knife with its sheepsfoot blade, instead of the Pacific Salt, or would it be alot harder to do?

NICE fish! Man, I'm happy when I land a three pound rainbow. Of course my tippet is running about 4 lbs test and I tend to use #18 and #20 hooks for my flies when the fish are being persnickety.

Note: I'm twenty years younger in this photo. Still as handsome though...

Very nice, Lance! I always enjoy your pics. :) What type of lures do you prefer or find to be the most effective?
