Thanks! If I don't sell it for an F3NS eventually I'll be glad to do a long term review, here.

So, I said my Neon wouldn't be my only Shiro...well, I just added a micarta F3 to my collection. It is incredible! With that said, it's much more of a simple, utilitarian/hard use design than your gorgeous Quantum. It has Elmax steel, and doesn't have all the refined details that the Quantum has. Hence the price difference. I don't think I'd prefer one over the other, though. I want both! One for harder use, the other to baby and gaze at lovingly. :pThe Meat man wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 5:35 pmThanks! I'll post pics of the F3 tomorrow.

I love the F95/F3/Hati blade design. So perfectly utilitarian. Also I have no problem with Elmax, but I think all the Elmax models come with the SRBS instead of the MRBS; and since the big thing about Shiros is the frictionless action, I figured I might as well try the best. :) Although I'm sure the SRBS is super smooth, too.JuPaul wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 8:42 pmSo, I said my Neon wouldn't be my only Shiro...well, I just added a micarta F3 to my collection. I had been eyeing a Hation Zero, but I think it might be a tad small for me (XL hand). Was going to maybe order a F3NS from Knife Center, but then I saw it was pre-order and not add to cart. Plus it was about $900.
They are crazy expensive, and only by selling off a bunch of knives did I even consider it...still, there's something special about Shirogorov knives and I think I can say that even if I don't keep this Quantum (and don't get me wrong, I really really like it!), I will most certainly try to keep a Shiro in my collection.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Hinderer Firetac, new to me from a good deal on BF.
Almost can't believe I actually own a Hinderer now - when I started getting into knives around ~2010, CRK, Strider, and Hinderer always seemed like the big three high-end production companies everyone talked about.
Now 11 years later I've tried them all...just a little late but it still feels good to close out, haha :D

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Oddly enough, my first Shiro (the Neon NL) has the MRBS even though it's an Elmax "base model". The F3 is the SRBS, though. But to tell you the truth, I don't see much difference between the two. I'd describe both as perfect! The F3 blade doesn't drop shut, it floats shut! The Neon requires a little jiggle to drop it. Of course the F3 has a much heavier blade, so it's hard to compare. But both snap open so smoothly, crisply, and easily. The F3 has more contoured scales, so it's more hand-filling. It also has a well-executed liner lock, rather than a frame lock. I'm so in love with both of them, it's silly. I really can't find a flaw with these knives. The Meat man wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 9:06 pmI love the F95/F3/Hati blade design. So perfectly utilitarian. Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Rick I think you'd love this micarta F3! It's right up your alley, and it's one of the more affordable big Shiros (of course that is very, very relative ). The contouring and the micarta are just how we like them and the ffg blade gets very thin bte. Super slicey.
Edit to add: I just wanted to show one of the little details that make these knives so perfect. Every aspect is so well thought-out. See how the pocket clip is rounded? No hot spots, just rolls into youf hand.

Hahaha, these days...what's too much to spend the way a bunch of us have been going in this thread :pJuPaul wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 8:58 amRick I think you'd love this micarta F3! It's funny, I love some of these very expensive knives and know that I likely won't be thrashing them around with warehouse work (unless they have a stonewashed finish that doesn't show blemishes) Not that I mind scratches...just not on knives that cost $300+
Besides work, I don't really use my knives all that often since we don't have a camper anymore. But, the knife nerd in me still NEEDS to try all these awesome brands!
Just saw you added that photo...it's the subtle little things like that, that people don't realize or care would make a knife more expensive but also more comfortable in hand! Those handle scales and clip look great! Nice photo to show off those traits :)
