The really interesting part is this one is basically a Model #16, but with the Model #1 blade.
But this one isn't hollow ground like the #1 is and it's FULL 1/4" thick tang.....
It's a very serious knife made for some very hard work/use.
The design came from the Korean War days. They wanted a Model #16, but with the Fighter (#1) Blade, so it ended up as the #16 Special Fighter.

The #1, #16 Special Fighter and #14 are the ones that really made the legends during the wars, WW2, Korea and Vietnam.
