So how do you like the auto version? The 940 is one of the few non-spydies that I own. I kinda want the new mini...

I just saw today that BHQ is giving the 940 the Jade/DLC/M4 treatment! Very tempted.

I love it!! It's the hardest hitting auto I have. Very solid, no rattle or blade play at all. Just excellent quality The mini 940 looks very cool.

Yup, tempting indeed! It looks really nice. Have you had any Benchmade M4 before? Any idea how they run it?

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
The new model Bailout is my first Benchmade with M4 but so far, its on par with any other manufacturers M4 that I have experience with, it holds that razor sharp edge forever!!

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
I actually have not. I've never owned a Benchmade! My friend at work that has multiple 940's let me carry his S3OV version with the green barrel spacers for a couple weeks before. I liked the knife, but at the time I only had a couple cheaper Kershaw knives. That was a few years ago, after all these Spydercos now, I wonder how I would rank the 940 against them. My Para 3/DLC version of this exclusive is a personal favorite, so I've got no problem giving the 940 another chance...if I can snag one!
Do Benchmade exclusives drop like Spydercos? Prior notification of the drop date and limit?

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
I saw Blade HQ dropped a bugout exclusive recently, and that had a specific drop date/time. I just looked it up and it's actually still available. So maybe they order a ton from Benchmade. Then again, it doesn't have the jade/dlc/m4 treatment, so maybe it wasn't as in demand?? I just really don't have a good sense of the market for Benchmades.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 5:35 pmI actually have not. I've never owned a Benchmade! I'm not sure how you'd feel about the 940 as a work knife. It's such a slim knife, not a beefy tank like our Shamans and Manixes. But it really is a sleek and sexy knife. I actually just got a 943 from their discontinued sale - same handle, different blade. I'm really pretty in love with it...don't tell my Spydies!

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
I ordered a custom all blacked out Benchmade Barrage in M4 a couple of years ago and still have it. They do a very good job hardening the M4. I do not have the M4 specs, but I was very happy with it when I saw the "proposed" HRC. I think the hardness documents being passed around have the specs for one that was tested.
EDIT!
I just checked the documentation and for all M4 samples they proposed 64-66HRC, and given the 3 samples they are actually 62.8 to 63.0HRC.

I was hoping you guys would give me a reason NOT to buy that knife...then I remembered where I was! :D Seriously, though, it's tempting. I really like the 940, but there haven't been many 940 exclusives in the past few years that I've liked. The REI model that I have is really the only one that's appealed to me until this one.Naperville wrote: ↑Sun Nov 22, 2020 5:57 pmI ordered a custom all blacked out Benchmade Barrage in M4 a couple of years ago and still have it. Hahahaha....I have $200 per month to play with (that should be spent otherwise), and I either buy military / survivalist books, martial arts training videos or knives. I know that I'm no help.JuPaul wrote: ↑Sun Nov 22, 2020 6:09 pmI was hoping you guys would give me a reason NOT to buy that knife...then I remembered where I was! :D Seriously, though, it's tempting.
