SMKW used the same base model as yours, but put on their scales. Both look great, IMO.

So I think I'm in the minority, but I didn't love the Malibu. Mine had a sticky lock, and the ergos felt wierd to me. Also I thought it was pretty thick bte. No doubt it was a fidget dream, though.

Got some new contoured scales for this Newtron, and I'm amazed how much better I like it.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Yeah, the lock stick is there and from what I have read and heard it is fairly common with these. Mine is neither severe nor subtle and I hope it mellows out.
The ergos are neither good nor bad for me. It is a fairly neutral handle but it is small. My middle aged blue collar hands like bigger handles, especially making hard cuts with a hammer grip. This is more of an EDC blade than a workhorse.
I’ll have to measure the bte thickness but it doesn’t seem any worse than 90% of my Spydies. Thinner than a Native but thicker than a Delica. I would guess 0.021 and will check tonight after work.
In the end it excels as a fidget toy which isn’t really my thing. I just wanted to add something different to the collection and for me this is definitely different.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Very nice, Julia!
The one knife acquisition goal I had for 2021 was to get a TRM... well, plan and execution don't always align. I've already spent a fair bit on knives, and still no TRM
Right now I can't even seem to decide which one(s) I want.
Or rather which order I want them. Most of them appeal to me and I would like to try them all, but I need to start with one. Though decision. And then there's availability.
I really like the Newtron, and almost jumped on the last batch, but it's also the one that, despite all its goodness, is most similar to knives I already have.
The Shadow is very interesting atm. That's probably where I would like to start, if I can get my hands on one. I'm not the biggest fan of axis locks, but that blade looks wicked.
Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
The Inkosi is such a nice knife.. I still can't decide for the life of me whether I prefer it or the Lg 21 w/ micarta inlay. Those two have easily been my most carried knives these past couple months. I definitely hear what you're saying about missing knives though hahah.. I have a handful of those. I also start to feel like I'm "cheating on" Spyderco if I go more than a few days without carrying one! PM2 in the pocket today.. all good haha! :pTkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 9:37 amAlmost grabbed mine today too, but decided it was Manix Monday instead. I do find that when I don't carry my Inkosi that I end up missing it after a few days. I've only got a select few knives in my collection that give me that feeling!
Looks like a great spot to be in that photo!

Beautiful! :) I definitely prefer the contoured scales as well! Deep blue sea?

Ok, that's pretty cool! I mean, it's fake as h3ll.. but still pretty cool! :p
I'm not a huge fan of the aftermarket deep-carry clips that I've seen for CRKs (not that I think CRKs necessarily need a DC clip..). I don't think that looks terrible though.. I might have to give that a try haha! How securely is the wire clip situated in the clip cutout? Hmmm maybe the TI Spydiechef wire clip on there to match? Or the sandwashed Lynch NW clip designed to fit wire clip channels? Now you've got me thinking.. Hah, the CRK purists are going to lose their minds! :D

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
I'm using a polished clip from a Ti Chaparral. It's a small 31 so not sure if it would work with other models. It's decently secure, it doesn't rotate unless you really push on it, but spydies do that too. It could benefit from clip channels or flattening the clip on top and bottom where it meets the scale and screw. I really like it but then again I love wire clips.DSH007 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 8:35 amOk, that's pretty cool! No wire clips here today!! :p But on a serious note, if the wire clip works on the small it should work fine on the large 21/31, they are all interchangeable.

It's so tough to find a large sebenza or inkosi with the insingo blade RH... Pretty annoying when you have the cash but the knife ain't available. But that is the knife game afterall.

You ain't kidding! I've been looking for a Large 21 before they're all gone for a few months now...but no luck, or I'm not willing to pay the asking price. The Large 31's are starting to trickle in though, keep your eyes open!Spydergirl88 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 11:09 amIt's so tough to find a large sebenza or inkosi with the insingo blade RH... I am waiting for a large 31 in S45VN with micarta inlay. It’s expensive so it is easy to be patient. Gotta sell a couple knives first anyway.

Mail call of the century! Well, now I need to decide if the Bugout or Sebenza is getting kicked out of the pocket. This thing is definitely getting carried every day now!
