That's a pretty one! I love BRK's texas fencepost handles.
That's a cool slip there, very nice.

Thank you! It hasn't really left the pocket much since getting it. The fencepost handles are great, I would really like a nice set of ironwood handles on my next BRK.
So it goes.

My James Brand "The Pike" arrived yesterday. It is a fantastic design with excellent execution. I love everything about it, except for where it was produced. With this level of manufacturing, it is clearly being sold for less than what it would cost to build anywhere else. Easily better than the very nice Boker Explorer Barlow which is in a similar price range. GEC can compete on quality, but not on production output, however their prices can be better if you manage to get one on the primary market.
TLDR; The Pike is an excellent slipjoint knife.

Nice! I love that green micarta! TRM is one of my favorites brands (besides Spyderco, of course :))! I have the Neutron, Atom, and Nerd. They are all great knives! The purpose-built design for easy customization is one of my favorite features of TRM.. I have several sets of scales for each model (g10, micarta, wood, etc.). Definitely cool to be able to swap them out as I please..

Do you follow TRM on the facebook at all? There is a guy in the group who has modded his Atom with a Spydie hole and posts up pictures of it.. It looks amazing, but it's pretty small because there just isn't much material to work with on that section of the blade.. you're right though, I think a Spydie hole from the factory would absolutely be a dream knife!

Hah, not that I'd ever push the facebook on anyone.. if you're at all interested in TRM, I'd check out their group. TRM owner Marianne Halpern is very active in it and they offer customer appreciation giveaways, special chances to buy knives, etc. Members are very knowledgeable and helpful.. a lot of the nonsense that tends to plague other fb groups is not tolerated in this one.. Like the Spyderco forum, it's one of the better places on the internet! :)
Thanks for the heads up on that, Rick! I've got a Facebook account, but I rarely check it these days because there's so much negativity online. I just got disgusted by it all. But I'll make an exception for a civilized group like that. ;) I'm hoping to snag a "Newtron" at their next drop...wish me luck! And wow, do the ti Atoms look nice! I hope they're making a bunch of them...
Thursday between 9-11 am eastern. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Thanks a ton!!!

Me, too! I'm so psyched! Looked like they were actually available for like 15 minutes this time. I'm excited to see what other Neutron 2 scales they drop later this month, too.

NICE!! Congrats :D I was glad that I got the Micarta, which is my favorite, especially on the TRMs.. I'll probably try to pick up some g10 scales too later on. You're right, it was definitely nice that they had more knives on this drop vs previous ones!

Decided to get back in the Microtech game. I’d really like to score a Scarab 2, but I’m going to have to save up.

The Sebenza showed up yesterday, I haven't even used it yet...but just from looking it over, the feel of it, the detail and tolerances...I get it. I LOVE my Spyderco's, but this thing is something different. The tolerances are incredible. It's so dialed in that looking at it for blade centering, I thought the blade might have been rubbing on the scales. Shined a flashlight through the back of it and sure enough there was a paper width streak of light shining through on both sides of the blade. It's not quite as smooth as I've seen in some videos, so I'll give it a break in period . Trying to resist my usual pivot tweak and cleaning. Already this morning sitting at my desk, fidgeting a bit while not busy, it feels a little smoother than it did a couple hours ago. It showed up very sharp along the length of the blade except near the tip. Being a convex grind that I'm not super familiar with, it took me a minute to get the right angle and it sharped up evenly and quickly once I found that angle. I've also never had a lanyard, so I'm going to keep it on there for now and give it a try. This thing really is a beauty and I'm glad I pulled the trigger!
